Rustic-chic cabins nestled in an ancient woodland offer a cosy glamping experience. Get closer to nature with courses on heritage crafts and self-sufficiency.
At Forest Garden, you have the opportunity to wake up in the middle of a tranquil woodland. The hand-crafted log cabins are completely off-grid. Breathe in, relax, and take the opportunity to unplug from daily life. Sign up for a spoon carving course or holistic massage, light a fire in the fire pit, or wander through the woods at your own pace.
Each one of the four cabins has a woodburning stove, fire pit outside, and veranda with covered deck space. The walls, floors, and furniture are crafted from wood, with throws and rugs adding a cosy feel. The kitchen area will have a double burner, pots, pans, cutlery, and crockery. All of the cabins sleep up to four guests.
Idaho Cabin has one double bed and two sofa beds available. The open-plan living room has a sofa, kitchen/dining area with double gas burner, and woodburning stove for those cosy nights in. A great space for spending time with friends, this rustic, yet comfy cabin is perfect for small groups looking to escape to the woods. The living area also has a ladder that leads up to the mezzanine level with the comfy double bed.
Anderida Cabin is tucked away at the farthest end of the Forest Garden site. This quaint cabin has one double bed and one sofa bed on offer, making it great for couples or small families. The sleeping area is on a mezzanine level, while the living space incorporates a kitchen area, sofa and table.
Orinoco Cabin, with one double bed and one sofa bed, is situated on the edge of the woodland and has nice views out over neighbouring pastures. The dining table in the kitchen area seats four, with the sofa pulling out into a bed for additional guests. The double bed is located up on the mezzanine level.
Jacaranda Cabin is close to the woodland's ancient iron pits. The cabin can sleep two upstairs in a double bed on the mezzanine level, and two downstairs on the sofa bed. The living space has a kitchen/dining area with seating for four allowing for nice cosy evenings in and social meals between friends.
Forest Garden offers a range of courses, from an introduction to beekeeping to green woodworking. Group courses can be offered for larger parties, perfect for a family get together or a hen party with a difference. A meal, tea, and coffee are included in the course fee.
A local pub and convenience store are handily situated a mile from the Forest Garden site. Two miles away is Forest Row, where you can find pubs, a delicatessen, a pizza restaurant, and farm shop.
Ashdown Forest is a historic woodland crisscrossed with footpaths, with beautiful views across Sussex. This wonderful forest was also the inspiration for Winnie the Pooh's 'Hundred Acre Wood'. You can visit A. A. Milne's home village of Hartfield and play pooh sticks from the same bridge as Christopher Robin in the famous books.
Tunbridge Wells is a historic spa town with plenty of places to eat and shop. The historic Pantiles is a beautiful covered walkway with buildings dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. Home to art galleries and open-air cafes, it hosts food markets and a jazz night during the summer months.
