Enjoy a romantic break for two in the idyllic Powys countryside at Kinton Escapes in The Duck Hut. This gorgeous hut sits in a quiet, secluded corner of Kinton and offers stunning views out over the open countryside taking in meadows, woods, and wandering sheep. This really is the perfect spot for your next romantic, peaceful retreat.
Inside, the hut has a rugged, rustic feel, with lots of exposed wood and pretty rural flourishes. Originally a fishing and shooting hut, it was relocated to its current spot some years ago and now offers couples a fab holiday destination. The open plan living area has a raised double bed that's accessed via a ladder, with a sofa seat beneath. You can stay cosy all year round thanks to the wood burner, and come summer, be sure to swing open the double doors and let the outside in.
Dinner times are a joy thanks to the fully equipped, beautiful, hand-made kitchen. The kitchen features a double electric hob, small electric oven, fridge and cooking equipment. You can also cook al fresco on the firepit that has a BBQ grill, before dining on your veranda whilst taking in the spectacular view. The veranda is also partly covered, meaning you can still sit outside and socialise when it rains!
Just up the hill from the hut is the shower shack. Here you can enjoy the scenery from the modern bathroom. The shower hut has contemporary amenities including a flushing toilet and lovely hot shower. Guests are also provided with shower gel and hand wash for the duration of their stay. The owner's house is just visible over the rise, but doesn’t impose on the solitude at all.
If you want to pop to the pub then the nearest Village is Marton, which is two-and-a-half miles away. Here there is a small shop and two pubs, The Lowfield and The Sun Inn. If you need extensive supplies you are advised to stock up before you arrive. The Chequers Pantry and the Dragon Hotel in Montgomery are also a 15 minute drive away and worth a visit.
Lovers of the great outdoors will want to venture out and explore the astounding scenery that's all around The Duck Hut. There are a number of fantastic walking routes on offer that can be accessed right from your door. You can hike to the megalithic site of Mitchells Fold and the peak of Corndon hill with its panoramic views of both England and Wales. Then head down to the Miners Arms for a pint and a scotch egg! Other activities that you can try out nearby include fishing, kayaking, gliding, wild swimming, cycling, horse riding, and falconry. The area has a number of museums, castles, and churches, making it an ideal spot for history buffs. Be sure to ask the owner for more information of things to do in the area.
