Set within a third of an acre of mature forests, at the end of an eighty metre footpath, Oaks Lodge is a timber-clad frontier-style cottage for two. It’s replete with everything you need to spend a romantic few days in the beautiful wilderness of rural Shropshire. With multiple windows gazing out over the surrounding tress and a substantial front deck to sit and listen the soothing murmurs and chirrups of the natural world, Oaks Lodge truly comes with everything you need to reset after a long period in the bustle and pollution of urban life.
The walkway to Oaks Lodge leads directly from a secure private parking space to the front porch, via an LED lit walkway. Once you ascend a small wooden staircase, you can pass directly from the decking to the main living space, a loft-style open plan room with a portioned off kitchenette- large sectional sofa, and the Hypons Orthos Silk Superking sized bed. Equipped with a forty two inch Bluetooth, Netflix and DVD enabled television and flame effect synthetic fireplace, this studio-type room is bathed in light throughout the day, and enjoys far reaching views of the surrounding woodlands, courtesy of a row of high windows across the front wall.
The kitchen is top of the range, with a ceramic hob, microwave, and extractor fan, as well as a fridge and oven and grill. In the same space, a washing/drying machine means that whatever the weather, you’ll be ready to hit the trails each morning.
Guests visiting Oaks Lodge are often surprised by the level of sophistication and luxury. There’s a hot tub to relax in come the evening, and a thermostat-regulated central heating system, a DAB Radio with premium Edifier R1280 Bluetooth bookshelf speakers, and a Nest-powered underfloor heating system. There’s also free Wi-Fi throughout the property.
For those who like to leave connectivity and entertainment systems behind while on holiday, the untamed and romantic woods around the cabin are the perfect getaway to escape into. The only sound is the easy sweep of wind rustling in the trees, and rare birds calling to one another.
Guests staying at Oaks Lodge generally don’t need a car, as amenities and transport links are within easy walking distance. The local village of Church Stretton is known affectionately as ‘Little Switzerland’ on account of its mountainous aspect and democratic, friendly atmosphere. Excellent local bars and eateries abound, and golf players will be delighted by the local club. There are also tennis courts in the village, and horse riding, fishing, and guided hiking excursions can easily be arranged.
