Step back in time and enjoy a wonderful stay in a railway cottage that was originally built in 1871. This charming home is a picture perfect cottage that is tucked away in a chocolate box village in the North Yorkshire countryside. Beautifully restored, the cottage offers rustic charm, modern amenities and a hot tub for indulgent soaks!
After you arrive, get comfy in the lounge with a nice cuppa. This is a beautiful, calming space, with nicely placed plants, a comfy sofa and a big arm chair. You can gather with your loved ones here for a movie night or simply settle in with a good book in the large window seat - once a lookout for passing trains - as you gaze out at the pretty garden.
The charming, stylish kitchen is an equally lovely space, thanks to its green and cream cabinetry and stylish wooden worktops. The kitchen also features a butler sink, all the amenities you need to prepare delicious meals during your stay and a cute corner dining booth with seating for up to four.
Upstairs, you’ll find two charming bedrooms, both featuring king size beds and stunning countryside views. The master bedroom still boasts its original fireplace, now a beautiful ornamental feature, while the second bedroom overlooks a Roman settlement on the hillside. The cottage also has a stylish bathroom with a fantastic bathtub that sits next to a window, meaning you can enjoy an indulgent soak with a view!
Outside, Crossing Cottage offers a private garden with sweeping views of the surrounding landscape and your very own wood-fired hot tub - perfect for unwinding under the stars. You can also get comfy outside on the alfresco seating and enjoy an evening tipple as the sun begins to set.
If you want to head out and explore, you are situated in the middle of the six-acre Helmsley Meadows and can wander the disused railway line, leading you straight to the centre of picturesque Helmsley. Also in Helmsley is the historic Helmsley Castle and Helmsley Walled Garden. If you’re feeling peckish, a charming farm shop and bistro are just a five-minute walk away, while the Michelin-starred Star Inn at Harome is only a-mile-and-a-half from your door, offering a true taste of fine dining.
You can also venture further afield and explore all that North Yorkshire has to offer. The countryside around Helmsley offers plenty of activities for nature lovers and history buffs. Explore the North York Moors National Park with its scenic trails for walking and cycling or visit the impressive Rievaulx Abbey, a serene mediaeval ruin. For a relaxing day, enjoy the local farm shops and tea rooms, or discover wildlife at the Duncombe Park estate and its National Centre for Birds of Prey.
