Coastguard’s Cottage is located just a few minutes away from the south of England’s spectacular Camber Sands beach. This charming cottage has recently been transformed to create a contemporary hideaway that blends the old and the new. Enjoy a cup of coffee out on the patio before a morning stroll along the beach. After an afternoon exploring Rye or Dungeness, put your feet up in front of the wood burner and relax with a book. The five spacious bedrooms, two living areas and charming pebbled garden are ideal for seaside escapes with family and friends.
The interior has been furnished in a minimalist style that creates a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The stylish wood burner and full-length stainless-steel countertop in the modern kitchen beautifully complement the medieval table and traditional tongue and groove walls. You’ll also find the living and reading rooms on this floor with fireplaces surrounded by exposed brick walls, reflecting the rugged nature of the cottage’s surroundings.
Head upstairs to find the main bedroom with its luxurious king size bed and bathroom with a large bath and ocean views. There’s also a single room and, at the top of a ladder, you’ll also find an attic bedroom which has stunning views over the shoreline and out to sea. The other two bedrooms are located on the lower ground floor and are set up as a twin and a double, offering plenty of flexibility for groups. They share a bathroom with beautiful terrazzo tiles, again inspired by the coastal landscape.
On warmer days, you'll want to head outside and enjoy the charming pebbled garden with its old fishing boat transformed into a planter. There’s a spacious seating area where you can relax in the sunshine or enjoy your meals outdoors gathered around the large wooden table. The firepit area has been built with protection from the coastal breeze, meaning you can sit out late into the evening stargazing with a mug of hot chocolate.
There’s plenty to do in the area with its long sandy beaches, famous golden dunes and a long list of outdoor activities on offer. Enjoy a refreshing swim down at the beach, have a go at paddleboarding, kayaking and kitesurfing or stay on dry land, building sandcastles or strolling along the shoreline. For a good walk or bike ride amidst some beautiful flora and fauna, there are plenty of trails in the nearby Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. There’s also the historic town of Rye to explore and the magnificent Bodiam Castle.
