Escape to the beautiful East Sussex countryside for a peaceful stay in this beautiful romantic cabin for two. Tucked away on a tranquil spot close to Battle, Catherine Cabin is one of a number of cabins on-site, all of which are named after a prominent woman connected to the land here.
Catherine Cabin is named after The Duchess of Cleveland, who lived at Battle Abbey in the mid-19th century as it transitioned from an estate to a tourist attraction. The Duchess cultivated mulberries and pomegranates, inspired women’s gardening careers and documented invaluable horticultural records throughout her life!
Catherine Cabin, embraces the spirit of women travellers and botanists who lived in Victorian East Sussex, from Annie Brassey to Marianne North. And inside, the interior is beautifully decorated with a botanical theme throughout. There is a gorgeous mural on the wall above the bed designed by a local artist that features flowers and butterflies. There is also a lovely stained-glass window in the bathroom featuring reaching vines and a central rose etching.
You and your loved one can enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep in the fab double bed, which has a stargazing window up above. Hop in and gaze up at the constellations before you drift off. Wake up and enjoy breakfast on the fold-out dining table, whilst listening to some tunes on the digital radio - which also has bluetooth connectivity. When it comes to entertainment during your stay, you also have access to a carefully curated bookshelf, with a number of titles that we’re sure you’ll enjoy! And you also have WiFi in the cabin, should you wish to catch up on the odd email during your stay.
After breakfast enjoy a hot shower in the modern ensuite bathroom, which has a heated towel rail and a flushing toilet. The cute cabin has a quaint kitchenette, featuring a fridge/freezer, a mini oven with a hob and all of the standard cooking utensils and equipment you’ll need to prepare hearty meals during your stay. There’s also a fantastic AeroPress coffee maker for that all-important first cup of the day. You are also provided with a complimentary pack of Bird and Wild coffee and Sussex tea.
When it comes to venturing out and exploring the area, you’re nicely placed to see all that this beautiful part of East Sussex has to offer. Battle, a charming East Sussex town, is nearby and is famed for its pivotal role in the Battle of Hastings. Visit the atmospheric Battle Abbey and battlefield to delve into history, or stroll the quaint High Street with its independent shops and tearooms. Explore the lush countryside on the 1066 Country Walk, leading to picturesque villages like Sedlescombe with its vineyard.
You can also visit the High Weald National Landscape - a stunning tapestry of ancient woodlands, rolling hills and charming villages, perfect for walking, cycling and discovering England’s rich natural and cultural heritage.
