Gorgeous cosy cottage in St Teath, Cornwall, with original beams, wood burner, snug, a stylish kitchen and lovely views, close to Port Isaac.
This lovely old 18th century cottage is set within the conservation area of St Teath and was likely once the village bakery. Recently renovated with a charming interior, close to great walks and beautiful beaches, it would be an ideal choice for a small family or four friends seeking a tranquil retreat close to ancient fishing villages and fabulous restaurants.
The exterior of this cottage, with its white walls and blue framed windows and door, has bags of character and gives you a good taste of what's to come. When you step inside you'll find a calm, cosy and welcoming haven with pale walls and many original features including wooden beams, slate floors and a pretty fireplace.
The kitchen is the heart of this home with its large farmhouse table, nestled by the old fireplace that now provides a home for kindling. The cooking area is modern and spacious with a breakfast bar where you can prepare food and sip a glass of wine whilst the table is laid. It invites bustling breakfasts and lazy long suppers.
The living room is simple and elegant with comfortable seating, a big sofa and plenty of blankets and cushions to get cosy. There's a wood burner set into a pretty stone fireplace and a wall mounted flat screen TV, so you can curl up with a good movie and some popcorn after a day of exploring. There's also a delightful snug tucked away on this floor where you'll find a long sofa for afternoon naps and another TV, a fab space to park the kids and let them watch their own movie of choice.
When it's time for bed you can head upstairs to the two beautifully presented bedrooms. There's a main double room and a twin room with small doubles. Even though the property is listed for four people the large twins means you can easily squeeze in another child, making it more than suitable for five guests. The beds have a high-end hotel feel with excellent quality linens, thick fluffy duvets and warm blankets.
In the morning you can head into the family bathroom, which has a gorgeous tiled floor, and enjoy a long hot shower in the large walk-in shower before heading down for a coffee.
There's a small pretty walled garden with a dining table and chairs where you can start the day in the sunshine surrounded by flowers as you make your plans. There's also a BBQ for fun outdoor dining after a day at the beach.
You'll be close to some great surfing beaches and wonderful coastal walks that really clear the cobwebs. Port Isaac is close by (of Doc Martin fame) and is a lovely old fishing village to wander around with a picturesque port where you can watch the boats bobbing in the harbour.
Head over to Padstow for the many shops, excellent restaurants and pubs. There's also local speedboating activities if you fancy a bit of excitement. Rock is a short ferry ride from Padstow and thought to be one of the most beautiful places in Cornwall. It has glorious beaches and some renowned restaurants. Cornwall is, after all, a food-lover's dream. With so many great eateries to choose from including The Oystercatcher and Nathan's Outlaw, it's worth booking in advance to make sure you can enjoy these absolute culinary gems.
Please note that the minimum stay for this property is 4 nights
