The detail

The magnificent Beaufront Castle is set high above the Tyne Valley in Northumberland with stunning views across the countryside below. Part of the building dates back to the 13th century and was incorporated into the Gothic revival style mansion built 500 years later. This impressive building has recently been renovated to offer a unique getaway for groups of friends or large family gatherings.

Wake up in your spacious bedroom and soak up the spectacular views through huge windows. There are eight bedrooms to choose from, each decorated in a style that complements the castle's grand character. In them you’ll find beautiful fireplaces, gilt-framed pictures and mirrors, antique furniture and sumptuous beds. Each of the bedrooms also has its own sitting area just in case you fancy a quiet moment to yourself. There are six bathrooms, some with luxurious roll top baths, the perfect place to relax after a long walk in the countryside.

Stroll through the castle, down hallways lined with artwork, past gothic stonework and via the stained glass stairway and you’ll find living spaces that are perfect for entertaining. The grand drawing room, with its impressive fireplace, chandelier and piano, is the ideal spot to gather everyone together in the evenings. There’s a slightly smaller sitting room just next door where you can put your feet up with a good book or simply sit back and enjoy the stunning view through the huge windows.

There’s a fully equipped kitchen where you can whip up quick meals to be enjoyed in the breakfast room or prepare extravagant feasts for everyone to enjoy at the grand dining table. After dinner, gather round the billiards table for a friendly competition or retire to the drawing room and plan the next day’s activities.

Once you’ve explored the castle and its stunning grounds, you might fancy venturing further into the beautiful countryside of Northumberland. The charming market town of Hexham is nearby with its beautiful Abbey to explore and streets boasting cosy cafes and friendly pubs. For a bit of history, sections of Hadrian’s Wall are within easy reach, as are Housesteads Roman Fort and Vindolanda. Northumberland National Park is also nearby, offering scenic trails for hikers and cyclists, or you can drive a little further to Kielder Water and Forest Park for more walking and some watersports.
