The Airstream truly is an American icon and this 1956 ‘Sovereign of the Road’ model is a beautiful example. Instantly recognisable from the highly polished and riveted chrome exterior, this particular caravan attended the 1961 Omaha, Nebraska meetup of Wally Byam’s Caravanners' Club, the founder of Airstream trailers. It has now been relocated to a peaceful corner of Dartmoor, surrounded by woodland and with views out over the rolling hills. With these spectacular surroundings and an outdoor wood-fired spa bath, this makes for a relaxing and romantic escape.
On arrival you'll find a welcome hamper packed with treats, some tea/coffee and nibbles, bread, butter and jam, plus a complimentary bottle of wine for you to enjoy on a sunny afternoon or cosy winter evening by the fire.
The Airstream comfortably accommodates two people and the caravan has been beautifully restored, preserving the retro feel of the original vehicle but adding luxurious features such as underfloor heating and a power shower. The interior feels bright and spacious thanks to big windows and the white walls and ceiling. There’s also a comfy sofa at one end of the caravan where you can kick back and relax after a busy day exploring.
This cosy bedroom features a luxurious double bed, complete with Egyptian Cotton bed linen helping you get a great night’s sleep. You’ll also find fluffy towels waiting for you, some storage space for clothes and a hairdryer. The generous bathroom even features a power shower.
There’s a fully equipped kitchen with everything from an induction hob and a combination oven to a dishwasher. There’s also a barbecue outside so you can sit out on the large deck and soak up the outdoors while something sizzles away on the grill. As well as a dining table and chairs, you’ll find sun loungers, a double hammock, outdoor chess, table football and a luxurious oak Japanese wood-fired spa bath in your private outdoor space.
The Airstream is ideally located for exploring the beautiful and varied countryside of Devon. Go for a stroll along the River Dart, perhaps taking a picnic along. Head down to the coast and spend a lazy afternoon by the seaside at one of the local beaches along the South Hams. Visit the picturesque Bayard’s Cove or Dartmouth Castle, perched majestically above the mouth of the river. There’s also plenty to do in Dartmoor National Park, whether you’d prefer to explore by foot, on horseback or even go for a dip in one of the river pools.
