Close to the historic market town of Tavistock, Devon, you will find Borough Farm. This family-run farmstead is home to a stunning first floor barn conversion. The Granary has been lovingly refurbished by the owners to the highest of standards, seamlessly combining modern and rustic aesthetics to create a stay that is stylish, homely and teeming with character. Noteworthy features include exposed oak beams, stone brickwork and vaulted ceilings, while you will also find all the mod cons needed to make your stay as comfy as possible. And if all that wasn't relaxing enough, why not see about booking private use of the sauna? Should you wish to venture out and explore the local area, Dartmoor National Park is barely a stone's throw away. What more could you ask for?
Access to The Granary is via the set of original stone steps. Upon entering through the glazed stable door, guests will be wowed by its beautiful composition and striking oak framed sky window - an ideal spot for taking in views of the starry nighttime sky. A kitchenette comes well equipped so that you can prep your own meals and enjoy your food as you take in the countryside vistas. The bedroom area features an antique French double bed and a double-ended antique French bath - perfect for a relaxing soak after a long day's exploring. You will also be granted access to the Granary's private outdoor seating area. Here, you can cuddle up around the firepit, or even get the BBQ going for some al fresco dining.
The area has plenty to keep you busy. The Tamar valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is known for its picturesque scenery which includes hills, valleys, forests and meadows - perfect for nature lovers. The Granary is also just a stone's throw from Dartmoor. Holding National Park status since 1951, this stunning moorland region is home to lots of wildlife, and a handful of small towns and villages. One of the most popular sites to visit is Lydford Gorge, featuring the 100-foot tall White Lady Waterfall and a series of whirlpools known as the Devil's Cauldron.

Leave a reviewEverything about Julia’s place is simply charming. The renovated barn is a large space, full of character and everything you need for a few days of bliss. The place is alive with activity and we enjoyed watching the horses, chickens and doves from our window. The highlight for us was sitting in the sauna looking out over the sheep as they graze happily in the field and the view is utterly breathtaking! A close second would be the comfort of the bed in the granary, all I can is that you would have to experience it for yourselves! Located on the border of Devon and Cornwall and a short drive to Dartmoor, we had the most wonderful time exploring and can’t wait to come back, this time with the children in tow as they will no doubt love being on the farm with all the animals. A big thank you Julia for your kindness. You really are a wonderful woman and have created something very special! Thank you for sharing with us!

We had the most cosy, relaxing stay at The Granary. It's spacious with everything you need for your stay, including wonderful bread, jams and fresh apple juice for breakfast. We loved the sauna with views over the countryside- perfect for warming up after a chilly walk. And the wood fired hot tub too. Julia is very friendly and welcoming, and on hand to help with anything you might need.

We stayed here for 3 nights over New Year and it was absolutely amazing. Julia couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. We got rained on constantly but the barn was beautiful (and huge!) and the sauna was perfect. We didn't get a chance to use the hottub as it's wood fired and so we couldn't get in going in the rain, but the sauna more than made up for it. The bedroom is cosy, with a lovely bathtub, and the fresh orange juice, milk, and homey touches really made a difference. The only slight concern was that the main barn door didn't seem to lock but honestly, you're tucked back at the farm and the only person we saw was Julia. You can also lock the bedroom so we just put valuables in there. I would recommend this place to anyone, and we will definitely be back!

We had an amazing stay at the Granary, Julia was a fab host and showed us were to find everything we needed and had lots of recommendations for the local area and walks near the farm, we were brought fresh croissants in the morning which was a lovely addition to the first morning waking up at the barn. The sauna was amazing and had the best views! Would happily stay here again and recommend to friends & family, thanks Julia! :)
