Enjoy a luxurious stay in the heart of the marvellous and historic city of Cambridge at University Arms. This wonderfully boutique hotel was re-created in 2018 by architect John Simpson and interior designer Martin Brudnizki, and offers 192 super-comfy rooms with views out over Parker’s Piece, the historic Regent Street, and the hotel’s inner courtyard.
The hotel has an undeniably British style throughout, and the classic Edwardian interiors are made up of delightful furnishings, tiered chandeliers, and well-thought-through colour schemes. Each of the beautiful ensuite rooms offers plenty of natural light, as well as comfortable beds, and interesting design flourishes. There are four types of room for you to choose from depending on what it is you require.
First up are the Cosy Rooms. These offer an uncluttered space, with great attention-to-detail. The Edwardian decor mixes perfectly with the modern touches and conveniences, to ensure you enjoy your stay.
Up next are the Classic Rooms, which embody the hotel’s influences, from great literature, to Edwardian-style furnishings, with a dose of the interior designer’s modern taste thrown in for good measure. These rooms have signature bathroom amenities and are more spacious than the cosy rooms.
The Superior Rooms are more spacious again, and build on the heritage and style of the interior designer. Big windows allow natural light to come flooding in, and bespoke armchairs offer you a great spot to lounge with a book. Why not take a book from the hotel’s own Heywood Hill-curated library?
The final option is one of the named Suites. These have large sitting areas and their own bookshelves that have been individually curated around their subject by Mayfair’s Heywood Hill. The Suites also offer unrivalled views of Parker’s Piece.
Each room also comes complete with a Smart TV, room service, a personal safe and a modern luxurious bathroom. Guests are also offered free bicycle hire for exploring Cambridge, as well as access to a 24 hour gym, and detailed City and Neighbourhood Guides.
There is also a quintessentially English brasserie on the ground floor of the University Arms called Parker’s Tavern, that has been a Cambridge institution for 185 years. Here you can enjoy the menu that was curated by Chef Director, Tristan Welch who has designed every dish to be a whimsical re-imagining of a British classic, sourced from field, fen and England's seas.
Situated in the centre of Cambridge, University Arms is a great base from which to explore this tremendous city. This city is rich with History so you have plenty to see and do during your stay. As well as a wide range of historic sites, Cambridge also plays host to some marvellous restaurants, quaint cosy pubs, nice bars, and lovely cafes. Avid shoppers will also be spoiled for choice with a wide range of great outlets and independent shops on offer!
