The Lister Arms was voted Yorkshire's favourite pub in 2019. This 18th Century getaway in the heart of the sleepy village of Malham in the Yorkshire Dales National Park won its prestigious award for its warm hospitality, superb menu and range of beers, and beautifully designed rooms.
There are four different types of room to choose from split across the main building at The Lister Arms and also the Lister Barn. The converted barn is light and spacious and has high ceilings and beams. It has a communal sitting area with a wood burning stove and a secret garden for those summer days. There are six feature rooms inside - many of which have patio doors opening out onto the terrace and garden - which can either have a king size bed or a twin. The barn can be hired in its entirety upon request.
Split across both the inn and the Lister Barn are the character rooms, which include lovely touches such as low wooden beams and some have a sofa bed as well so it can serve as a family room. The rooms in the barn can only come as a double, but the others can be a twin if required. Finally, the cosy rooms are all located in the main building and many can also have a comfy king size bed or a twin depending on requirements.
All rooms are en-suite and come complete with complimentary biscuits, fresh milk, flat screen TV, and WiFi throughout. Each morning there is also a hearty Yorkshire breakfast included.
The Lister Arms is famed for its great home cooked food and sampling the menu is a must. This is served in the lively dining room, or alternatively eat in the bar where those staying can also enjoy a drink in front of the original fireplace in the winter months, and out on the sunny terrace in the summer.
Head over the stone bridge and out of Malham and soon those staying will be in the stunning Yorkshire Dales. There are walking and cycling trails for all capabilities in abundance, or why not visit the nearby market towns of Settle and Skipton.
