Tucked away in a pretty village on the border of the Yorkshire Dales, this cosy cottage is perfect for couples or families looking to escape to the countryside. Enjoy long walks or bike rides in the Dales, starting from your doorstep and stopping off for lunch at one of the friendly local pubs along the way. Return to the cottage for a long soak in the hot tub before getting dinner going on the BBQ or putting your feet up in front of the log burner.

The cottage feels warm and welcoming from the moment you step inside with comfy sofas gathered around the wood burner in the living room and a large kitchen overlooking the garden. You’ll find everything you need to rustle up the family favourites in the kitchen or to prepare food for the BBQ outside. There’s a dining table and a sofa in the kitchen, so everyone can keep the cook company and play some music on the bluetooth speakers. After dinner, snuggle up in front of the log burner with a game of cards or have a go on the Xbox.

You’ll find the two ensuite bedrooms upstairs and they can be set up as two doubles or a double and a twin, offering plenty of flexibility. The main bedroom has a comfy king-size bed and a glass-fronted staircase leading up to the ensuite. Here, you’ll find a beautiful freestanding bath with lovely views over the countryside beyond the village. The second bedroom overlooks the garden with a king size bed or two singles.

There are large bi-fold doors in the kitchen which open out onto the garden patio, perfect for sunny afternoons with a BBQ on the go. You can relax on the outdoor sofas, soaking up the sunshine, or get the hot tub going after a long walk in the Yorkshire Dales. You can also access the garden via a side gate so you can wash off muddy boots and outdoor kit before heading inside.

Woodcroft Cottage is in a fantastic location for a walking or cycling trip with the Yorkshire Dales on the doorstep and Wainwright’s famous Coast-to-Coast route just on the other side of the River Swale. It’s located in the peaceful village of Hudswell which is home to an award-winning pub, The George and Dragon, serving up great food and drink. The historic market town of Richmond is just a couple of miles away and there’s a lovely walk through the countryside that will get you there in 40 minutes. Here, you can explore the cobbled market square and discover independent cafes and shops.
