Set among the rolling hills of Derbyshire, boasting views in every direction The Water Mill is an imposing and picturesque former mill, steeped in local history. The property has been lovingly converted into a unique holiday home, available to rent on a self-catered basis. Easily capable of accommodating up to sixteen guests comfortably, The Water Mill is the perfect choice for large family gatherings, corporate retreats, and any other celebratory groups looking to visit Derbyshire and stay in a no-compromise property which can cater to their every whim.
The main kitchen and dining space in the mill combines rustic wood finishes with contemporary high-end culinary appliances, creating a space as aesthetically pleasing as it is functional. Come together for breakfast every morning, and dinner each evening and sit around to share a meal with your loved ones. Alternatively, perch at the four person breakfast bar for a more casual experience. Whether you want a fully catered package from Mark Hadfield Catering, a hamper package from the local deli, or a full bar service for a special event, any number of catering solutions can easily be arranged for your pleasure and convenience.
After dinner, retire to the sitting room, with its abundance of historic features, modular sofas for all sixteen guests, and choice of Freeview, DVD player, or a wide selection of books and games. Aside from the main living spaces, there is also the slightly quirkier Milling Observatory, where an engineered glass panel allows guests to look in on the mill workings from the comfort and safety of the champagne bar. Upstairs, various configurations of couples, families and friends can be comfortably accommodated in the versatile bedrooms. From its high ceilings and original fittings to the no-expense spared modern touches carefully designed to create a luxurious and decadent group destination.
Outdoors, choose between two separate private patios that offer rattan outdoor dining furniture and a large gas barbeque, not to mention the stunning, historic, millstones set into the floor. The property also offers a luxury, seven-seater hot tub complete with mood lighting and drinks compartment, alongside an overhead gazebo to hire at an additional cost. Alternatively, take a ten-minute stroll through the estate’s pastures and you’ll reach two separate, private paddocks, both complete with an adjoining stretch of river; the ultimate spot for games, paddling, a picnic, or simply for younger children looking to blow off some steam.
Everything about The Water Mill is geared towards a no-compromise getaway, regardless of your hobbies or preferred activities. Guests who enjoy hiking, bike riding and outdoors pursuits from sailing and paintballing to Go Ape and caving will be delighted by what is on offer in the surrounding Peak District. Almost every taste can be catered to with advance liaison. For a more sedate afternoon stroll, consider the picturesque strolls to either The Sycamore Inn, in nearby Carsington or The Olde Gate Inne in Brassington, both offering brilliant food, excellent cheer and fantastic local ales.
