A grand and beautiful old country manor, Burrs Farm is ideal for a large groups of friends, hen and stag weekends or large families wanting to spend some quality time together. It sleeps up to 22 but the owners do accept smaller groups and have gone out of their way to provide all those lovely extras that make a country escape so special.
Accessed via a gravelled farm track, unseen from the road, Burrs Farm stands independently and is surrounded by 20 acres of delightful farmland. You'll enter to find a magnificent hall which leads you to the main lounge, a warm and inviting room with an original triple stoned fireplace and lots of cosy seating, perfect for chilly nights in with board games or a good book. There's also a second sitting room which also has a wonderful fireplace, and is great for the younger people in the group with a pool table and table football to keep them occupied.
The heart of the house is its glorious granite-topped, open-plan country kitchen with exposed beams and polished stone flagged floors. This space also features a huge dining table and a fabulous AGA cooker. Gather here on arrival, grab a drink and get over excited about finally being here. The kitchen is fully equipped for any chefs amongst you and there's a walk-in pantry stocked up with a range of crockery and glassware including cafetières as well as many pots, pans, roasting tins and cutlery. It also has an iPod docking station. All you need to do is pop on some music, pour a drink and plan your menu. Enjoy meals together in the dining room, which also has a log-burner to keep you toasty and warm long into the evening.
Head up the beautiful staircase and you'll find four spacious bedrooms with big comfy beds. Three of the rooms have their own en-suite showers and the fourth has use of the family bathroom opposite. The second staircase takes you to the top floor where there are a further three generously sized bedrooms. Two of these use the family bathroom on the first floor and the third has en-suite facilities. All of the rooms have been beautifully decorated in muted soothing tones and they can all be adapted from king-sized beds to twins depending on your needs.
The property has lovely views of the Peak District and there are patios that are perfect for summer BBQs. You can also bob around in the hot tub enjoying the far reaching views before cosying up around the fire pit as evening falls. There' s also a playhouse and rope swing to entertain the children and through the garden gate is a Footgolf course.
The house is a wonderful base for exploring the area, and there are endless trails for walkers and cyclists to enjoy on your doorstep and fabulous historic towns such as Bakewell and Buxton mere minutes away. A visit to nearby Chatsworth House is recommended for all you Mr Darcy fans.
After a day of exploring there are plenty of idyllic pubs to enjoy. Try the award winning Royal Oak serving great food and cask-conditioned ales in a cosy atmosphere with open fires. The Church Inn is also highly recommended and has been refreshing locals since 1742. Biggin Hall is the place for candlelit suppers and Brasserie de la Couer will sate all your French cravings for a romantic night out. Alternatively you might just like to pick up some excellent fish and chips at the coach house and wash them down with a glass of champagne.
