Oker Farm is nestled in forty acres of beautiful countryside. Close to the spa town of Matlock. This wonderfully designed stone farmhouse would be ideal for a large family gathering or a friends reunion.
Already impressive from the outside, you'll be delighted by the interior which you enter through a gorgeous kitchen and dining area. This bespoke handmade kitchen boasts oak flooring throughout and a large granite central island where everyone can gather for a welcome drink. Fully equipped with an Aga, Miele appliances, wine cooler and Sage Nespresso coffee machine, it's a wonderful space for the creation of fantastic feasts to be enjoyed at the oak dining table which comfortably sits 10.
Just a few steps up from the kitchen is the snug, cosy and light-filled with high ceilings and traditional wooden beams, it has a lovely stone fireplace housing a log burner. There's a large plush corner sofa and leather chairs where everyone can gather together on chilly evenings for a film on the 55 inch wall mounted smart TV. Large windows and doors provide stunning views of the surrounding countryside where you can lose yourself in the beautiful sunsets.
A games room beside the kitchen has another flat-screen TV, plenty of comfy seating and the added luxury of a Olhausen Waterfall pool table where you can spend some happy hours in competition.
There are five stylish bedrooms, all of which can be utilised as doubles or twins depending on your requirements. With excellent mattresses and high quality linens they promise a peaceful night's slumber. Two of the rooms have luxurious ensuite bathrooms, with the remaining three sharing a large elegant family bathroom. They all have Hansgrohe Rainfall showers and Villeroy & Bosch vanity units with underfloor heating to keep your toes toasty in the morning.
Outside the farmhouse is spectacular, with a big garden and summer house should you fancy settling in with a good book or playing a game of table football. The garden itself has a 12-seater rattan dining table where you can enjoy a BBQ alfresco. And towards the rear you'll find sun loungers where you can recline with a refreshing beverage.
There are some lovely walks around the property and the hosts recommend a stroll through the farm's fields to the top of the hill where you can visit the famous Oker Tree. William Wordsworth wrote a poem about it!
The Derwent Valley Heritage Way passes through the property's land where you can follow the path all the way to Ladybower reservoir. You'll also be very close to the spa town of Matlock where you'll find plenty of independent shops, a boating lake and a nice cafe. If you need to get supplies there's a Sainsbury’s less than five minutes away by car, and the farm is within walking distance of some good local pubs.
For big days out you might like to visit Chatsworth House, the village of Bakewell and, close by, The Heights of Abraham. This fabulous cable car ride takes you high above the valley to see some stunning views and is always a hit with kids.
Please note: minimum stay for this property is: 2 nights low season & 3 nights high season

Leave a reviewWhat can I say about this incredible house?? It's simply stunning, the location, and the house. The rooms are all absolutely beautifully decorated, with equally fabulous bathrooms and very comfortable beds. Everything is done to a very high standard and you can tell they have put a lot of thought into the renovations. The kitchen is perfect for big groups and is really well equipped... seriously they have enough plates and cutlery to serve an army! The Aga is really easy to use as well so I didn't have any worries there. David and Helen couldn't have done more for us. They were on hand for anything we needed and made us feel welcome. Definitely will come back
