Spacious, light and contemporary house in the Derbyshire countryside with stylish interior, large wrap-around garden and breathtaking views.
Hillcroft has style and elegance on a large scale. With huge communal spaces, cosy bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms it is the ideal destination for big family reunions, joint holidays and celebrations.
Gather together in the ultra-large living room where you can claim your spot on the super-sized luxury corner sofa and wait for someone to furnish you with a drink. As with every room in this spectacular house, the majority of the space is decorated in neutral colours with something colourful to draw the eye, in this case the giant deep blue sofa. There's also two smaller sofas facing each other, providing a cosy area to chat in more intimate groups. Despite the size, the room is made cosy by a log burner where you can all gather and watch a movie or open the sliding glass doors and let the sunshine stream in.
The kitchen is equally impressive, bespoke and kitted out to the highest specification, making it a dream for the cooks who will be able to cater to large numbers with ease. As well as all the Neff appliances there are two fridge freezers, one of which you can fill up with booze. It's another great space to hang out and has a big sleek central island where helpers can chop veg with a cold drink and help lay the showstopper dining table. The table easily seats 22 and has pretty lights hanging above to create a cosy convivial atmosphere. Whether it's a bustling breakfast or an elegant supper, this is a fantastic space with plenty of room for everyone. Open the glass doors and you can step out on to the balcony with your coffee and soak up the gorgeous views.
There are eight bedrooms, all in soothing tones with pops of colour in the bedding which is luxurious, crisp and warm. The beds vary from super-king to king and can be configured as twins if needed making the sleeping arrangements very versatile. There are four elegant tiled ensuites, some with walk-in rain showers and others with bathtubs. There's also a shared Jack and Jill bathroom and another luxury family bathroom meaning no queues in the morning and plenty of guilt-free time to luxuriate. The rooms sleep 16 adults but up to 24 if kids are involved and extra cots can be provided.
Once everyone is rested and bathed you can head down for a coffee, which if it's sunny, you might like to enjoy outside. The kitchen leads out to a vast balcony area where you'll find plenty of seating and a table and BBQ for alfresco dining. Start the day with far reaching views of the glorious Derbyshire countryside and watch the kids run around wild and free. As the garden is wrap-around there are plenty of private spots you can sneak off to if you fancy a little alone time.
There's entertainment to please everyone and one of the most popular days out is Carsington Water, very close by car this water based activity venue offers sailing, cycle hire and water sports. It also has a great ice cream parlour! Chatsworth House is nearby for all the Austen fans and you'll be only eight minutes away from the market town of Ashbourne with its medieval streets and cobbled market place. After all that exploring, reward yourself with a pint at The Miner's Arms, the closest of at least five great pubs in the area. For fancy dining try The Lighthouse Restaurant which comes with a Michelin recommendation. And if you need a break from that fabulous kitchen, Scoff can deliver some excellent home cooked meals to your door.
