The Tower offers a truly unique and romantic retreat for couples in rural Derbyshire. This exquisite converted tower was once an integral part of an old water treatment plant that was featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs. The Tower has been lovingly transformed into an idyllic stay for two, offering modern amenities, striking design features and a peaceful location.
As you arrive, you’ll be delighted by the tranquil surroundings and the striking tower before you. Stepping inside, you’ll find a beautifully designed interior with exquisite artwork on the walls and comfy furnishings throughout.
The Tower once housed a 10,000-gallon water tank and retains all of its architectural grandeur and some of its original details, such as the board-marked concrete and moulded Art-Deco style door and window apertures. These stylish features blend seamlessly with the more modern aesthetic that’s been brought into The Tower with its fabulous interior design.
Lounge on the sofa with your loved one and open up the double doors to let the fresh country air inside. If it’s cold out, throw some logs on the wood-burner as you stay toasty whilst enjoying a movie on the TV. Or, if the weather’s warm, step out onto your pretty garden where some outdoor seating and a firepit offer the perfect spot to enjoy an evening tipple as the sun begins to set.
Back inside, the modern kitchen has all the contemporary amenities you’ll need to whip up delicious feasts during your stay as well as wonderful concrete worktops and an original neon light. There’s a fold-out dining table in the living room for mealtimes, or you could dine alfresco soaking in the peace of your surroundings.
When night falls, head up the winding staircase to the bedroom, where you’ll find a king size bed that’s draped with a feather duvet. This super-comfy bed guarantees a great night’s sleep, and there’s also a hanging egg chair in the bedroom where you can get comfy with a good book.
A striking Cor-Ten steel divider creates a sleek boundary between the bathroom and bedroom, where modern luxury awaits. Expect a concrete sink, toilet, heated towel rail and a show-stopping rainfall shower with a unique glass floor. The space seamlessly blends contemporary touches with its Brutalist roots, honoring the heritage of the original water works in every detail.
The Tower sits on six acres of beautiful countryside that you’re welcome to explore. However, if you venture further afield, there’s lots to see and do. Start with a visit to Hardwick Hall, a stunning Elizabethan estate with beautiful gardens and woodland walks. Stroll through the picturesque Doe Lea Valley or take a hike along the rolling hills of the Peak District, just a short drive away.
History buffs will love Bolsover Castle’s grounds and views, while nature lovers can explore Carr Vale Nature Reserve, a tranquil spot for birdwatching and peaceful picnics.
