Escape to the wilds of Scotland and reconnect with nature in a rustic, luxurious bolthole with stunning Highland views. Stable Bothy is a charming and captivating 200-year-old former stable converted into the ideal retreat for couples.

Whether escaping the winter chill under a blanket or soaking up the summer sun on your patio with a cold drink, Stable Bothy is an oasis of calm and comfort. Easily accessible from Inverness, just a stone’s throw from the NC500, and with plenty of walks directly on the doorstep, it’s the perfect Highland home from home.

Approaching Stable Bothy on the gravel drive, you’re greeted by the exposed stone walls and charming wooden lintels of your cosy bolthole. Stepping inside, the huge windows fill the space with natural light and offer stunning views over the tranquil Strath Fleet Valley and the hills beyond… binoculars are a must! The open-plan kitchen, living and dining area is your space to relax and reconnect. In the colder months when the wind howls, light the log burner, put a movie on the TV or pick up a book, and sink into the comfy sofa.

The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need for your stay, and there’s even a welcome hamper of local artisan products to cook. In the mornings, fill the room with the smell of fresh coffee from the machine and cook a hearty breakfast for the day ahead. Prepare a packed lunch for your upcoming hikes and fill hungry bellies when you return with a delicious evening meal. In the summer, dine alfresco on your private patio and pour a glass of something cold as you soak up the stunning Highland views.

As the night draws in, your luxurious kingsize bed awaits. Adorned with thick bedding and soft pillows, it’s the perfect place to drift off after a long day. Wake up and refresh in the separate bathroom that boasts a rainfall shower, underfloor heating for those chilly mornings and complimentary organic Highland Soap Co. products.

Stable Bothy is your perfect Highland base whatever your interests. There’s hillwalking directly from the front door, golfing at championship courses such as Royal Dornoch, Tain, Golspie, Brora and Bonar Bridge, sampling world-class whiskies from Glenmorangie, Balblair, or Clynelish and discovering grand castles such as Mey or Dunrobin. Head to the picturesque town of Dornoch for sandy beaches, charming streets, independent shops and restaurants and attractions such as the gaol and Cathedral.

We absolutely loved the Stable Bothy. It was cosy and beautifully furnished, it had everything you’d need. Good views from the glazed sitting area and so peaceful. Iona was a great host and had provided useful information of what to do in the area. We did lovely autumn walks at Loch Fleet, Big Burn and Migdale. The bothy is also close to the north and west coast and it was east for us to travel on to our next stop in Tongue from there. Highly recommended.
