The Roost is a beautifully designed architectural gem nestled in a lakeland haven with large windows pouring light into every room. Tucked away in a quiet street but very close to the town centre of Bowness, it would be a perfect retreat for a multi-generational family of up to eight, or a group of friends seeking peace, luxury and easy access to all that the Lake District has to offer.
On arrival you'll enter to find a bright hallway with a double-height ceiling and full height glass creating an open airy environment evident throughout the entire property.
The main lounge is simple and elegant with stylish furnishings and art by local artists adorning the walls. It's a great spot to gather for a welcome drink and take in the view. A huge corner sofa provides an excellent spot for curling up with a good book, or snuggling in to watch a film together. Be sure to make use of the surround sound and prepare buckets of popcorn! There's a table football table for those who fancy a bit of friendly competition and the hosts have also provided an array of board games, jigsaws and even a Playstation.
On a balmy summer day you can open the large glass sliding doors and step out on to the raised balcony which overlooks the large manicured rear garden. Gather with a glass of chilled wine and bask. There are also double doors from the lounge leading to the front terrace where you can enjoy the morning sun and dine alfresco at the eight-seater dining table. A swing set on the lawn will keep the smaller children happy whilst you peruse the morning news.
Downstairs you'll discover a wonderful state of the art kitchen in a zoned open plan layout fully equipped with everything you could need to prepare a feast. Another large dining table is perfectly placed for long lazy suppers and a cosy seating area is ideal for a pre-dinner cocktail whilst the chef gets busy.
When it's time to sleep there are four beautifully decorated bedrooms to choose from. On one level are two double bedrooms and a twin room meaning parents can be near their children if needed, and the twin also provides a good option for friends sharing. A luxurious Jack 'n' Jill marble tiled bathroom provides both a deep bathtub and a shower where you can freshen up whilst your towel stays nice and fluffy on the heated rails. On its own floor, the master bedroom is a haven of tranquility with another cosy double bed and its own ensuite facilities.
Enjoy breakfast out in the delightful garden as you make your plans for the day. You'll be a short 10-minute stroll from Bowness where you'll find plenty of pubs and bistros to enjoy. Wander along and admire the boats, take a walk in the countryside, or just rest with a glass of wine.
Cruises and boat trips of the lake are a lovely way to see the area and the hosts recommend a meal at the Wateredge Inn at Ambleside before heading back for a pint at The Angel. If you're looking for fine dining book a table at HriShi at Gilpin Spice in Windermere or The Old Stamp House. Go paddle boarding or kayaking and enjoy any number of breathtaking hikes and then reward yourself with a spa day at Low Wood Bay's Spa.
