Breathtaking luxury lodge on the shores of Lake Windermere with stunning interior, home cinema, games room and amazing lake views.
This utterly stunning lakeside home has been designed with pure luxury in mind and would be perfect for a large family holiday or a group of friends relaxing in style by the shores of Lake Windermere.
The design theme is 'luxury lodge' and this can be seen in the antlers, faux fur rugs, warm plaid fabrics and gorgeous furnishings which will make you feel like you're in the most high-end ski chalet or hunting lodge. A delightful place to stay in any weather, it has both the cosy winter interior and the glorious outdoor garden just yards from the water.
The kitchen, dining and living area is open plan and the stylish kitchen with its Ralph Lauren and Van Thiel furniture and rustic green oak dining table overlooking the lake is the perfect place to come together for a welcome drink and marvel at your surroundings. Stone surfaces, quality appliances by Gaggenau, Quooker taps and three cookers means your chef will be in absolute heaven. Gather for informal meals here or just head up the steps to the formal dining area where you'll find a stunning 12-seater Whetstone Oak table perfect for celebratory meals and fine dining by candlelight. Afterwards enjoy coffee by the Stuv woodburner faced with local Burlington Stone.
Additionally there is a main lounge with another wood burner and a snug where you can enjoy a game of monopoly and talk into the night. Despite the utter luxury of Grey Gables it is both welcoming and very cosy.
One of the particularly wonderful additions is a cinema room with a 65-inch screen where you can all snuggle up with blankets and hot chocolate for a movie marathon. And for those not in the mood for a film there's a games room with large pool table ensuring everyone is entertained.
An impressive glass-steel staircase leads up to the five gorgeous ensuite bedrooms, all of which have floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the lake, two with balconies. Each one is decorated beautifully with large comfortable beds bedecked in crisp linens and faux furs and two have freestanding oval baths with a view where you can have the ultimate in luxury soaks before wrapping yourself in a warm fluffy robe.
After a good night's rest you can refresh yourself in the giant Drench shower before heading down for coffee. If the weather is nice you might like to take it out to the large terrace and watch the sun dapple the water. Stroll down to the jetty, dip your toes in and marvel in the beauty all around. With the jetty at your disposal you might like to hire a kayak (or bring one with you), and make the most of this enviable closeness to the lake. The terrace is set up for sunbathing and alfresco dining and if it's a bit chilly grab a faux fur and languish on the Adirondack chairs.
When it's time to head out you'll find a selection of Hunter wellies in the boot room. Help yourself and venture out to explore - Scaffel Pike is a must-see. Bike hire is available at Windermere Railway Station and Grizedale Forest, the largest forest in the Lake District which is completely traffic free! The best ways to explore the Lakes is by boat and you can opt for one of the many short cruises which run in the area or hire your own boat. If you fancy a cosy pub lunch try The Drunken Duck and for more formal dining the Gilpin Lodge Hotel is a delight without being stuffy.
