Set within the picturesque Fring Estate, the Potting Shed is a a truly distinctive setting for a getaway. Built into the garden walls of the Estate, this mini house is charming in its sentiment, and expert in its execution. With eyes on both the past and present, the Shed is sure to wow guests with its rustic appeal, unique setting, and surrounding countryside. Whether you are after a quiet indoor getaway, or looking for a base from which to explore the beautiful East Anglian countryside, The Potting Shed has you covered.
The Potting Shed is built right into the walled garden of the Fring Estate. It has been considerately and expertly renovated by the owners to provide a comfortable stay for guests, while remaining true to its heritage. This eye for history is evident in the vaulted ceilings, unpainted stone walls, and bare brick flooring. The kitchen, dining, and living area is open planned. There is a cosy couch and a small table for two (although al fresco dining is also an option). The kitchen area is small and comes (almost) fully equipped. The bedroom contains a luxurious double bed and the Velux window illuminates the room during the day, while providing a glimpse of the unspoiled starry sky at night.
The exterior benefits from a fenced terrace to the front (with table and chairs). To the rear there is a private open-fenced terrace and lawned garden offering extensive views over the Fring Estate and surrounding countryside. And we should probably mention the outdoor bathtub!
The north Norfolk countryside is famed for its gorgeous scenery, providing the perfect getaway for those who like to get out and about. The famous Peddar's Way runs right through the estate. This gorgeous walking trail follows a 46-mile long Roman road through the diverse Norfolk countryside, all the way to the coast. There are also various opportunities for cycling in the region.
Other activities on offer in the area include birdwatching (RSPB Snettisham is a15-minute drive), golfing, and sailing (should you wish to head up to the Norfolk Coast - a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). Nearby towns worth a visit include the seaside town of Hunstanton and the market town of King's Lynn. The historic houses of Royal Sandringham and Houghton Hall are also a short drive away.
