These two incredible properties both sit within the picturesque grounds of Thursford Castle in the beautiful Norfolk countryside. The Walled Garden and The Cabin both offer supremely stylish interiors with modern amenities and big windows that connect you nicely to the scenery outside. Both properties sleep two guests, making them ideal for couples on a romantic getaway.
Up first is the amazing Walled Garden. Nestled in a private walled garden, this bespoke larch-clad accommodation combines nature, luxury and tranquility.
The space is split between two beautiful buildings, seamlessly blending with the ancient stone wall. The open-plan living area features distinct areas for cooking, dining, relaxing and even working. Exposed timbers and large windows flood the space with light and offer views of the garden.
The well-equipped kitchen, with a large island and embedded sink, makes preparing meals a pleasure in this serene environment. Afterward, enjoy dinner at the circular dining table or, during warmer months, step outside to dine alfresco under the stars, surrounded by the sounds of nature.
In the evenings, cosy up by the wood burner on the comfy sofa, sipping wine as the flames flicker away. The bedroom suite, just a few steps away, features a super-king size bed with crisp linens for a peaceful night’s sleep. In the morning, open the patio doors and enjoy coffee in bed while soaking in the stunning garden views.
Up next is The Cabin. Set in a private meadow, the cabin suits a couple wanting to unwind and rest in nature without compromising on home comforts. The Scandi approach to the interiors means the place is awash with natural light and kitted out with simple yet high-quality furnishings. In terms of location, you have the best of North Norfolk on your doorstep, from the unspoilt countryside to the coast, famous for its beaches and wildlife reserves.
Enter through the glass door and make yourself comfortable in the open-plan living area. The sofa bench is strategically placed by the window, so you can enjoy the view of the grounds while nursing a morning cup of tea or evening glass of wine. A bluetooth speaker is provided for listening to your favourite tracks, and you'll find a pack of cards and books to keep you occupied on gloomy days.
The bedroom is separated from the socialising space by a bespoke shelving system. The king size bed is dressed in Egyptian cotton linens, guaranteeing a soundless slumber each night. When it’s time to freshen up, head to the bathroom for a soak in the rainfall shower.
Spend warm afternoons outside in the garden. Picnic on the grass of your own private meadow, serve a tasty lunch hot off the BBQ or cosy up by the fire pit when dusk falls.
Staying and relaxing is a true joy, but if you’re in the mood to explore, there’s so much more to discover in the surrounding area. The stunning coastline, wildlife reserves and historic stately homes offer plenty of opportunities for adventure. After a day of exploring, enjoy a delicious meal at The Carpenters Arms at Wighton or The Red Lion at Stiffkey, both offering excellent service.
For a more active day out, hire an e-bike and explore the charming villages and local pubs, or visit the Walsingham Farm Shop to stock up on fresh produce. If you’re in the mood for boutique shopping, a short 15-minute drive takes you to the market town of Holt. History lovers can visit nearby stately homes such as Holkham Hall, Sandringham, Houghton and Blickling.
And if you’re craving a day at the beach, the North Norfolk coastline is waiting for you to explore. Holkham Beach, just 20 minutes away, is world-famous and one of the closest, offering the perfect spot for a day of relaxation by the sea.
