Cosy studio style lodges with stunning countryside views near the south west coast of Scotland, perfect for a romantic rural escape.
Nestled amongst the rolling hills of Dumfries and Galloway, you’ll find these seven studio style holiday lodges, each perfect for a couple looking for a peaceful rural getaway. Wake up in the morning to a freshly prepared breakfast hamper full of locally sourced treats and sit out on your deck, soaking up the scenery. Set around a pond and surrounded by fields, there’s plenty of wildlife to watch and screens provide plenty of privacy from the other lodges. Spend your days exploring the area which is home to pretty villages, 200 miles of rugged coastline and the UK’s largest forest park. If you’ve chosen a Pond Lodge Plus, you’ll be able to return to your cosy hideaway and recover from the day’s adventures with a dip in a hot tub.
The interior of the lodges feels bright and spacious with big windows letting in plenty of natural light and natural tones have been used in the furnishings. The first thing you’ll notice is the big comfy bed, complete with crisp white linen and perfectly positioned to enjoy the view through the patio doors. Open up the doors in the morning and enjoy the sights and sounds of the countryside from the comfort of your bed with a cup of tea. There’s also an ensuite shower room where you’ll find fluffy towels waiting for you.
There’s a well equipped kitchenette where you’ll be able to rustle up breakfasts or prepare food from the BBQ hampers that are available. Sit at the bar under the window or, on sunny days, head outside to the deck and enjoy your meals outdoors. This outdoor space offers plenty of privacy from the neighbouring lodges, facing the surrounding hills and fields and with a screen on one side. The deck with its table and chairs is a lovely spot to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or watch the sunset in the evening with a glass of wine. Thanks to the largely rural surroundings the area has Dark Sky status, so you’ll be treated to a bit of a show on clear nights if you stay out to stargaze.
There’s plenty to see and do in this part of Scotland and the lodges are located in the heart of it all. Head a little way north and you’ll find yourselves in Galloway Forst Park with more than 29 square miles to explore and the opportunity to spot red kites circling overhead. Head south and you’ll reach the spectacular Solway Coast which you can explore on the South West Coastal 300 driving route. Along the way, stop off at the region's charming towns and villages where you’ll find pubs and restaurants serving up fresh local produce from the land and sea.
