The newly refurbished Green House is a delightful eco cabin set in tranquil surroundings with lovely rural Scottish views, only seven miles from Selkirk. This beautiful home would be perfect for a single adventurer or a couple seeking a bolthole away from the busy world.
The open plan interior is both stylish and cosy with a very well-equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher, where you can cook some locally sourced Scottish delights and enjoy them at the perfect-for-two dining table by the French doors. There's pretty art on the walls and some potted plants make the space homely and welcoming.
The living area is simple and comfortable with a sofa and a big chair where you can cuddle up under a blanket and watch a movie on the wall-mounted flat screen TV with hot chocolate and snacks.
A dividing wall separates the bedroom from the main living space, creating a cosy nook with a big king size bed bedecked in crisp linens and warm blankets. There's low lighting and little else to distract so you can enjoy a deep night's slumber with nothing but the sound of nature to keep you company.
In the morning you'll be delighted by the walk-in shower providing plenty of hot water via solar power. There's a heated towel rail to keep the towels warm and fluffy whilst you indulge yourself with the complimentary Bright Earth toiletries.
There are lots of lovely little touches in this holiday cabin, such as the beautiful natural wood window sills and the varying windows of different sizes and heights allowing the sky to be ever-present inside.
Coffee and breakfast can be enjoyed at the mid-century dining table or outside on the deck which is an absolute treat. There's comfortable rattan seating and a table at one end, and because the deck is covered it won't matter a bit if it's a wee bit wet and windy out. In fact the deck is playful and charming with a swing suspended from the rafters where you can sway back and forth as you stare at the view. And at the far end you'll find a fabulous hanging TiiPii day bed, perfect for curling up with a good book beneath the fairy lights, or whiling away an evening watching the big dark sky reveal its twinkling stars.
The local village is quiet and has a fantastic inn called the Cross Keys where you can enjoy a pint and some great food with the locals. Seven miles away in Selkirk you'll find Selkirk Distillers who sell their own craft gins and if good coffee is your thing you must visit Three Hills Coffee. For special occasions and some fine dining you might like to try Number One, which has a lovely interior and comes recommended by the hosts. But if you just want to hole up and enjoy the quiet there's a BBQ back at The Green House ready for some local produce to be enjoyed with a big glass of wine or a wee dram.

Leave a reviewWe spent 5 nights at the Greenhouse, at the time the trees were all in autumn colours and we were treated to some sunshine on all but the last day. The Greenhouse is well equiped and furnished with calming greens and lots of wooden pieces. The surrounding area has lots of interesting places to visit too. On arrival we were greated to homemade 'Oat and raisins' cookies and left some eggs from the resident hens. The hosts provided an excellent app, which was really useful beforehand as well as on arrival. They also researched the local markets and found out about an 'apple Festival' on at the weekend we were staying. The local pub is a must to visit, the menu is excellent and the owners very welcoming. There are lots of animals in the area too, yes its worth using the supplied binoculars, if you don't quite believe your eyes. The village is almost like stepping back in time whilst the cabin itself is hi-tech but relaxed.
