Former industrial building, renovated to the highest of standards in the centre of Rye, complete with mod cons and charming courtyard garden.
In the centre of the beautiful Sussex town of Rye, just off the historic main street, you will find The Playhouse. Set in an architecturally significant building in this medieval town, it has been carefully renovated and beautifully decorated to the highest of standards. Playful local and vintage artwork adorns the walls throughout, while exposed brickwork and timber beams combine to help form the property's unique character. The courtyard garden offers the perfect silent space and, should you wish to venture out, you're just a few steps from the centre of one of the South East's most picturesque towns.
Entrance to The Playhouse is via a narrow passageway off the high street. Guests will be greeted by the spacious double-height lounge that's bathed in light that comes through huge industrial windows. Another striking feature is the arresting pink glass chandelier that hangs from the timber beams. Spend evenings unwinding on the Chesterfield sofa as you enjoy the heat from the smokeless biofuel fire while watching a film on the Smart TV.
Just off the living room is the kitchen and dining area. Carefully considered and beautifully designed, this gorgeous space has a brand-new kitchen with ample workspace and all the mod cons necessary for preparing a delicious evening meal. The dining table - comfortably seating four - has been constructed using the property's old front door, providing an industrial twist on this modern section of the property.
Step out of the kitchen and onto the courtyard garden, complete with a reclaimed bench, table, and several potted plants - the perfect spot to start the day. The bedroom sits at the top of the living room's bespoke staircase. With an Egyptian cotton bedecked king size bed, timber beamed ceiling, and soothingly airy colour scheme, guests won't struggle to nod off in this beautifully appointed suite. Just across the hallway is the bathroom which has a large walk-in rainfall shower.
The medieval town of Rye has long been a favourite of tourists. With charming, cobbled streets, independent shops, cafés, and several historic bars on offer - be sure to visit The Mermaid Inn and The Olde Bell Inn - visitors won't want for things to do. For those who enjoy a tipple, there are several local micro-breweries and vineyards worth a visit. The lovely seaside village of Camber is just a short drive from Rye. So, if you're looking for a sandy beach, you won't have far to wander. For the history buffs, there are lots of places of interest dotted throughout the region. Bodiam, Sissinghurst, Knole, and Igtham Mote, the home of Rudyard Kipling, are all nearby.
