Nestled in extraordinarily verdant gardens which showcase the abundant Cornish flora, The Lodge is an architecturally remarkable 18 century cottage, now available to rent for parties of up to four looking to explore Portreath from a beautiful and quaint base. Ideally located for guests to take advantage of the Cornish coastline, the excellent pubs and footpaths and of course the local art scene, this cottage, with its thatched roof and secluded, dreamy aspect, is the perfect escape for anybody fleeing the stresses of urban life for the quintessential Cornish cottage experience.
The property benefits from an expansive outdoor decking space, with ample outdoor furniture. There's even a hot tub for you to take a soak in after a long day on the beach or out exploring the flowered woodlands. In the warmer months, guests tend to spend all of their time outdoors, from drinking a cup of coffee surrounded by the gentle sway of the bushes and trees, to enjoying a final local beer after a lengthy evening meal together. The gardens are long established, and in all four seasons they are an absolute delight to behold, brimming with blooms, blossoms and seed heads, and quite unlike any other garden.
Inside the cottage itself, you'll find that high-end modern amenities and comforts have been judiciously installed in this historic building. From the shower and claw foot bath tub to the slick contemporary kitchen, the house is brimming with 21st century comforts, allowing you to enjoy a truly luxurious stay without compromising on the architectural charm of your surroundings. There is a large, main double bedroom and a second smaller bedroom which can be set up with twin singles or combined into a second double. Both rooms share the one bathroom.
From the miles of coastline nearby to the stunning walks along the undulating bays, this area of Cornwall is renowned for its dramatic topography and extraordinary natural beauty. The headlands are festooned with purple gorse, and in the spring months the area comes alive with bluebells and snowdrops. For active holidaymakers, there is an award winning golf club right on your doorstep, excellent swimming and beach activities nearby, and substantial coastal walks. Portreath also has fantastic pubs, like The Unicorn, which also serves incredible roasts, all prepared with fresh and local seasonal produce. From renting a bike to cycle 11 miles through Scorrier Woods to Devoran to the nearby Fox and Hounds Pub with its brilliant menu, there are endless activities and gentle day trips to suit every taste from hearty adventurer to people looking for a sedate potter around the region.
