Nestled on the breathtaking Gwennap Headland in the charming coastal village of Porthgwarra, Number 4 Coastguard Cottages offers an exclusive retreat in the heart of West Cornwall. One of the rare gems perched on this headland, it’s a mere five-minute stroll to the picturesque Porthgwarra cove, famously featured in the TV series Poldark. From the cottage, soak in the awe-inspiring views of the rugged granite moorland and the untamed Atlantic Ocean.
Number 4 Coastguard Cottages has been meticulously renovated by its new owners, who opened its doors to guests in 2024.
The accommodation is thoughtfully designed to sleep six guests across three bedrooms, including two with king size beds and one with bunk beds suitable for children. The fully equipped kitchen boasts a cooker, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer, making meal prep a breeze and you can enjoy hearty breakfasts and lavish dinners on the rustic dining table.
When it comes to socialising with your loved ones you can relax in the cosy lounge, complete with a log burner (initial fuel provided) and a smart TV with a DVD player. Gather here for a glass of wine in the evening or a morning coffee as you plan the day's adventures.
Before bed the main bathroom features a bath for indulgent soaks and a shower. The second bathroom features a shower, and there are towels provided for your convenience.
Venture outside and you can unwind in the spacious garden complete with outdoor seating for alfresco meals. Take in the marvellous views from here as you soak up your serene surroundings.
A short 10-minute drive or a stunning clifftop hike will take you to Porthcurno beach, home to the renowned Minack Theatre. Head the other way, and you'll find the secluded beach of Nanjizal just a coastal walk away. Further along, discover Land’s End and the popular surfing spot of Sennen Cove, only five miles by car. And within a 30-minute drive, you can explore the enchanting villages of Mousehole, the historic St Michael's Mount and the bustling town of Penzance.

Leave a reviewAbsolutely stunning. Within days of returning home we have booked to stay again next year. A beautiful tranquil place full of nature and panoramic views. We hardly used our car, once we arrived we didn't want to leave. A few minutes down the road is a lovely small beach where we watched seals and swam in blue clear waters. There is a gorgeous cafe with delicious ice-cream, coffee and cakes. Lands End and quiet beaches are within walking distance in one direction, the Minack Theatre is 20mins walk in the other direction. It is particularly quiet during the evening, a short walk behind the cottage are amazing views across the ocean. We watched a fox from the dining room window, endless birds and seals bathing on the rocks. The cottage is beautifully decorated, very clean and comfortable and just a joy to stay in. I can't recommend this place enough.

I intend to leave two reviews as we have only just arrived at this property today. I will leave another when we leave. We found ourselves in a difficult situation. We travelled from the lake district to Cornwall with parents, dogs and a young child and booked into a holiday cottage in Porthleven through a different company. The accommodation was unsuitable and we found ourselves after 4 days without anywhere to stay. I saw this property and thought it looked beautiful. I sent Amy a message and she replied quickly. Amy managed at very short notice to accommodate us. Amy & Wills cottage is stunning. The interior is gorgeous, comfortable and great for a family. We were bowled over when we walked in. A basket of delicious treats had been left and our 5yr old boy is beyond excited by the children's bedroom. The views from the cottage are spectacular. It's peaceful with lots of walks, unspoilt countryside and beaches. I wanted to write an early review to show our appreciation and to let others know what a wonderful cottage this is. We can now relax and enjoy the rest of our holiday.
