The houses themselves started out as outbuildings for horse and carriage storage, but have since been converted by the current owners into high-end accommodation, ideal for large reunions, multi-family groups, or wedding parties. Both Big Apple and Wild Cherry have been refurbished in a way which remains true to the historic architecture, while tastefully bringing 21st century style, amenities and design decisions to these remarkable spaces.
Wild Cherry benefits from an open plan main living space, with an extraordinary Italian cantilevered staircase leading to the main suite. The kitchen is both aesthetically delightful and practical, a space which it is simply a joy to cook in, whether you're preparing a picnic for your family to take hiking on the moors, or whipping up a hearty meal at the end of the day, to enjoy outside at the outdoor dining table in the courtyard garden. Wild Cherry has two spacious super-king sized bedrooms, one of which is convertible to twin singles, making it ideal for pairs of couples or families.
Big Apple next door is larger, reached via a private driveway and set in splendid grounds. A shared vestibule connects it to Big Apple, making the pair ideal for larger groups looking for independence and autonomy. Alongside the original red brick construction, a glass and steel addition has created a spacious kitchen-cum-dining room which is constantly bathed in light, and enjoys enviable views of the greenery outside. Three bedrooms can happily sleep six guests, each with an en-suite, and as with Wild Cherry, Big Apple benefits from both outdoor and inside dining furniture, meaning that whatever the weather you can enjoy the views and light as you eat.
The houses are located just a brief stroll from the city of Ripon with its famous 7th century cathedral. A bustling settlement, it has multiple restaurants, bars, coffee shops and retail opportunities. As well as the stunning topography afforded by the dales and the moors, you're within easy reach of the contemporary cuisine of Betty's and the Michelin star Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall. As well as mountain biking and hiking, try your hand at shooting, fishing, and wild swimming.
