A truly unique property, The Boathouse sits amongst the fishing boats on a serene shingle beach in Deben Estuary, Felixstowe Ferry. It couldn’t be closer to the shoreline - built on brick stilts to allow the occasional high tide to pass under – and provides incredible views of the estuary and its rich diversity of wildlife. The property itself is a restored Edwardian boathouse, tastefully decorated and oozing rustic, maritime charm. Sleeping up to four adults and two children, it's perfect for large families looking for a relaxing getaway to the coast.

Restored wooden steps and bannisters lead from the beach to the front porch, which has plenty of room to store coats and wellies. On the ground floor, you’ll find the open plan living, kitchen and dining space, with large windows offering wonderful sea views and lots of natural light. The cosy lounge has comfy seating, a traditional wood burning stove and a TV, but there’s also a selection of books and board games if you wanted a digital break. Past glazed doors in the living area is the sunroom with a day bed, a lovely spot for a read or an afternoon snooze.

Fancy eating in? Keen chefs will be able to showcase their skills in the modern kitchen (perhaps cooking up some fresh, local seafood) which features a large range cooker and spacious wooden worktops. Meals can be enjoyed around the farmhouse-style dining table which sits beside the kitchen.

Four bedrooms await when it’s time to call it a night. The master bedroom is situated at the top of the impressive, handcrafted staircase and boasts spectacular panoramic views, a luxurious super king bed and an ensuite shower room. There are also two spacious double bedrooms with balconies overlooking the river and a bunk bedroom for children. Located conveniently outside the bunk room is the shared family bathroom, which has a bath, wash basin and separate WC next door.

In the surrounding area, there is a fish shop offering up the latest catch, local cafes renowned for their fry ups and the fantastic Ferry Boat Inn pub. If you were after a challenging walk, head up the banks of the Deben to Waldringfield where you’ll find the riverside Maybush Inn pub for a rewarding tipple. You’ll also be spoilt for choice for activities, with opportunities for sailing, fishing, cycling, birdwatching, golf and more.

A passenger ferry 100 yards from the property will take you across the water to Bawdsey, well worth visiting for its sandy beach and picturesque manor, home to the world’s first operational radar station museum. Felixstowe is just a stone’s throw away, a charming seaside town that has a vibrant town centre with a good selection of bars and restaurants, as well as various attractions and activities for all ages.
