This Westcountry retreat is remote, isolated and invisible from the South West Coast Path above, which is exactly what makes it so special. You reach the hut by walking down a steep cliff path, meaning privacy is assured.
With a private beach and endless views out to sea, all you will hear is the sound of the birds and the waves crashing on to the nearby rocks. The Beach Hut is more than its name suggests, with a wood-fired hot tub on the beachfront terrace offering a luxurious touch.
Inside, the hut is cosy, inviting and the perfect place to spend time together. Comfortable hammock chairs in front of the large windows make the most of the spectacular views, with a woodburner providing warmth when needed. A wooden dining table sits beside a simple but well-equipped kitchen, featuring a gas hob and grill, all the kitchen equipment you might need for a short stay as well as essentials such as tea and coffee. The double bed is nestled under the sloping roof and accessed via a ladder, offering a certain romance. The small bathroom is gorgeous, consisting of a shower, toilet and basin.
The barbecue outside gives yet more dining options… after all, it would be a shame not to make the most of the sea air. To really relax and make the most of your holiday, order a food hamper to be placed in the cottage ready for your arrival, filled with fresh, local produce.
A stay at The Beach Hut is focused around its stunning location, allowing you to spend your days relaxing on the private beach, walking along the South West Coast Path and discovering fine beaches including nearby Mothecombe. Plymouth lies around 9 miles west and is the nearest large city, home to attractions like the Marine Aquarium and National Trust property Saltram House. Head north and you will soon be in Dartmoor territory. The huge National Park spreads out towards the Cornish border and the Tamar Valley, around 30 minutes’ drive away, forming the green heart of the county. Holbeton village itself is pretty and secluded, with a pub and a local store, while Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers are a little further away.
