Nestled in the heart of a picturesque Wiltshire village, The Apple House offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and is conveniently close to the historic market town of Salisbury and the World Heritage site at Stonehenge. This award-winning, newly built home is designed to echo the apple barn that once stood on the site, featuring wood cladding and black corrugated steel that perfectly blends a contemporary aesthetic with warm, old-fashioned comfort.

Decades ago, this property was a stable, later used to house livestock and then filled with junk before Clare and Barnaby, the current owners, bought it. With admirable vision, they've transformed the derelict stable into a stunning timber-clad structure with a soaring pitched roof and a contemporary wing of black corrugated steel housing two bedrooms.

The Apple House is now a stunning home with stylish fabrics and antique furnishings throughout as well as luxury touches like roll-top baths and underfloor heating.

The L-shaped Apple House boasts a generous modern living space with beautiful pale oak floors throughout. The kitchen, equipped with a range, island, dining table and a sofa with a widescreen TV, is perfect for entertaining or simply unwinding from the stresses of modern urban life. Budding chefs will find meal prep a breeze and you can perch up on the island keeping them company whilst sharing a bottle of wine as they chop away. Full-length windows and doors downstairs flood the space with light and open onto a south-facing terrace with sweeping views of the Nadder Valley and the 'Shaftesbury Drove'.

Wander down the reclaimed brick hallway and you’ll reach the a pantry and a handy boot room for storing muddy boots after a long walk in the countryside.

When bedtime beckons, the main bedroom features a luxurious four-poster bed, an ensuite dressing room and a bathroom with an old-style roll-top bath and walk-in shower. An upstairs bedroom also includes a roll-top bath offering another opportunity for a deluxe soak, and the owners can arrange for a child’s bed (up to 10 years old) to be assembled here.

The Apple House is an excellent base for exploring the many attractions Wiltshire has to offer. Shaftesbury, a 20-minute drive away, provides a quieter alternative to Salisbury and is home to 'Gold Hill', famous from the Hovis adverts. The neighbourhood boasts several excellent pubs, including the renowned Beckford Arms in Tisbury.

Undoubtedly the best stay we've ever had in a holiday rental. The owner stopped by to check we were happy and had what we needed, we had more than enough, we felt so spoilt. The home is extremely comfortable, set out like a home from home, as if the owners moved out for the weekend to let us enjoy what they'd created. The weather was glorious, we enjoyed a local walk from the home after enjoying sitting around the beautiful wild swimming pool, I would have taken a dip, but the local pub had my name on a pint of Guinness for me at the end of our autumn walk. We'd love to stop here again, it is stunning, a must for those who want relaxation, glorious walks and to stay where a family are really thoughtful about their guests.

Awesome place - REALLY well kitted out. Super comfortable and LOADS of storage for food and clothes. Fully intend to return in warmer weather to go for a swim!

We spent 2 nights here to celebrate our anniversary. Only wish we had booked longer, we had a fabulous time. The house is huge and very comfortable. Particularly loved the lounge/diner/kitchen and the hallway with the beautiful plants. There are great views from all areas of the property and it’s really quiet and relaxing. However the icing on the cake was the pond. We were lucky enough to have great weather and spent many hours swimming and lounging on the sunbed. The pond is awesome. We had morning dips both days as the sun rose. A memory I will always have. We visited Stourhead NT one morning (which was beautiful) and had plans to go for lunch but to be honest we loved the cottage so much we went back and swam. We had BBqs both nights and Clare kindly arranged to move the bbq to the back of the cottage so we could sit and eat with views of the countryside. Overall a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back.
