An incredible 17th century church in Hampshire with huge social spaces, a striking altar, a magnificent organ and beautiful arched windows.
The Old Church is a truly marvellous stay in rural Hampshire in a magnificent 17th century church. Still containing an abundance of its original features, The Old Church oozes historic charm, with a beautiful organ, a striking altar in the kitchen and huge high ceilings in the main living space.
When you arrive, you’ll be blown away by the ornate church that sits in its own peaceful garden. And when you enter, the vast living areas are sure to please. Unwind with your loved ones in the grand open-plan living space, which features a cosy lounge area at one end beneath the giant arched window. Get comfy on the sofa as you enjoy a movie on the smart TV or light the wood-burning fireplace and stay cosy as you catch up with loved ones over a glass of wine.
The other end of the living space is where you’ll find the wonderful kitchen. The kitchen has an array of modern appliances, making meal preparation a joy, and there’s also the church’s original altar, that serves as a centrepiece around which you can enjoy an evening tipple. There’s also a large dining table next to the grand organ that sets the scene for social dinners and sits beneath a striking feature chandelier. The dining table can seat your entire group and also doubles up as a snooker table for games in the daytime.
Kids will love the mezzanine space, which features beanbags and a TV with a games console for evening entertainment. There is also a selection of books in the bookshelf, which itself is a secret door to the old bell tower.
When night falls, The Old Church offers three delightful bedrooms that have all been designed for a cosy and comfy night’s sleep. The bedrooms all sit on the top floor and are cocooned amongst the eaves with low beamed ceilings and charming wallpaper. There are also two luxurious bathrooms upstairs, one of which features a big bathtub for indulgent soaks.
While this dreamy hideaway has everything you need to cosy up and switch off, adventure is never far away. Step outside and you're straight into the forest, with acres of woodland to roam and explore. Fancy a little day trip? The charming market town of Ringwood is just down the road — ideal for a slow riverside stroll and a pint in a proper pub. And when Sunday rolls around, you're in luck: there's a cracking carvery just a few doors down.
