Sun Hill Farm is a working race yard with a number of beautiful horses in residence. The cottage overlooks their training ground and is an absolute treat for families visiting with children. The cottage is also an excellent choice for friends wanting to relax in style and explore Yorkshire's stunning countryside.
This larger than average traditional cottage has heaps of character with its solid oak beams, stone walls and pretty arches reminding you of its age. This has been perfectly blended with modern luxurious amenities and a very cosy elegant décor.
There's a wonderful farmhouse kitchen with a big traditional Aga where the chefs amongst you will delight in creating fabulous meals whilst the rest enjoy a glass of wine at the breakfast island. And if no one fancies cooking the hosts can arrange a private chef to prepare a feast for you all which you can enjoy at the cosy six seater dining table. Once the dishes have been cleared the dining table transforms into a rather splendid pool table, a fun way to while away an evening with a little competition!
Head through the archway into the cosy living area, curl up on the comfy seating and enjoy a movie with the family, or catch up on your reading by the wood burner on chilly nights. During the summer you can throw open the French doors, let the sun stream in and enjoy the enclosed garden. There's a pretty pergola heavy with Wisteria, beneath which you can dine alfresco with a lovely view, make use of the large gas BBQ and watch the sun set. After dinner why not grab a towel and settle into the hot tub for some star gazing?
Come bedtime there are three lovely rooms to choose from. One is on the ground floor making it ideal for those with limited mobility. The bed is a super-king which can be made into twins if required and has its own ensuite wet room with a large shower. The two remaining bedrooms are on the first floor, and as with the ground floor room have their own ensuite facilities, and are beautifully decorated with big comfy beds to ensure a good night's sleep. One has a king and the other a super-king which is also a zip and link.
With three ensuite rooms your mornings can be long and lazy with no one queuing outside! And after you are ready and refreshed you can head back down to the kitchen and prepare some coffee to enjoy out in the garden, lounging on the rattan chairs as you watch the racehorses working on the gallops.
The nearest town is Leyburn which is within four miles of the cottage. It's a lovely place to wander around, stock up on food shopping and enjoy some cake at one of its tearooms. Head to one of the lovely inns if you fancy a local ale. There's a great weekly market on Fridays and the hosts recommend you drop in at Inspired Chocolate to pick up gifts for loved ones. For a good pub lunch you'll find The Wyvill Arms just a mile down the road in Constable Burton. And if you're bringing a dog friend there's another great pub in Finghall which has a big garden.
Enjoy some fantastic walks in the Yorkshire Dales, get your boots good and muddy, then head home to Sun Hill Cottage and fire up the BBQ, dine in the glorious Yorkshire air, then sink once more in to the bubbling hot tub. The hosts provide lots of luxury services from private dining to spa treatments so be sure to check out their menu of goodies when booking.
