This gorgeously decorated canal boat has been cleverly designed to make the interior spacious and luxurious without losing the novelty of floating on the water. Perfect for a romantic couple, it has a raised cosy double bed, but the owners have also provided a double sofa bed and an additional mattress so a family can take advantage of this fun and different style of holiday. The boat is also available for functions and can comfortable accommodate 25 people, each and every one clutching a champagne flute!
A hidden oasis in central London, this wide beam boat offers the best of both worlds; a private idyllic retreat and access to the bright lights and excitement of the Big Smoke. Little Venice is like no other part of London. Beautiful rivers and lakes with weeping willows trailing the edges of picture perfect lawns. It's affluent and very pretty. It's also a hop and a skip from Camden where you'll find another kind of London with live music, punks and great street food.
Back to the boat. The living area comprises a lounge seating area with a lovely green sofa by an artistically placed black wood burner resting against a monochrome tiled back. An eye for design is evident at every turn. There's an office space with WiFi and a desk and a door that closes should you need privacy. A bijou and elegant stainless steel kitchen nestles in one corner with a Smeg gas oven and hob, a good size fridge with freezer compartment, a sink and draining board, cupboards and shelves housing all the usual kitchen equipment where you can cook a feast or simply throw some salmon at a plate and crack open a bottle of champers.
The bathroom has a walk-in wet room with modern exposed pipe work and a compost toilet which would usually have to be emptied by the host every three to five days. Water is held in a tank on-board and needs topping up once a week. This will also be taken care of by your host.
In the winter months heating is by the solid fuel stove which burns a combination of smokeless coal and logs which are provided. The stove can be controlled and kept going 24 hours but you need to allow for this in your daily routine, i.e. loading stove before going out and a little attention on your return. It keeps the boat warm and cosy. There is also a Webasto central heating system which heats the radiators and hot water.
Out on the deck you'll find a lovely seating area to the front of the boat where you can enjoy an evening lifter with the fire pit crackling at your feet. On a sunny morning climb on to the roof and settle in to one of the deck chairs with a Nespresso coffee and enjoy the stunning views of the lake whilst waving at passers by.
Little Venice has plenty to offer by way of restaurants, bars and pubs. Treat yourself to fresh seafood and fabulous views at The Summerhouse, an elegant canal-side restaurant; or soak in the sun on The Waterway’s wide terrace. Indulge in sleek Chinese cuisine at Pearl Liang, or tuck into some comfort food at neighbourhood cafe Molly’s. For a pint or two, look no further than The Bridge House, a traditional British pub overlooking the canal.
You can also catch award-winning fringe and comedy from the candlelit tables of the Canal Café Theatre, or enjoy a show at the Puppet Theatre Barge, a real theatre on a canal boat. For free entertainment in the summer months, head to nearby Sheldon Square’s amphitheatre which puts on a series of events.
Explore the atmospheric Regent’s Canal, which starts from Little Venice and ends in the Docklands, passing the likes of ZSL London Zoo and Camden Town. Walk downstream past the elegant Regency streets of Maida Vale and on to Regent’s Park and Camden, or follow this peaceful corridor upstream to the west and enjoy the tranquility of the canals.
If you’d rather take to the water, embark on an exciting canal trip by narrowboat with Jason's Trip, Jenny Wren Canal Cruises and the London Waterbus, which take you from Little Venice to Camden Lock Market in around 45 minutes.
