Right by the beach, and moments from pubs, cafés, shops and restaurants, this smart sea-view cottage is one fine Whitstable retreat
Overlooking the beach at Whitstable – and a short stroll from the nearest pub – Spray Cottage is the kind of place you want waiting for you. Redesigned, renovated and covering 3 floors, it’s big enough for up to half-a-dozen guests to enjoy the gem of the North Kent coast.
If you haven’t seen the sea in a while, you’ll be seeing a lot more of it during your time at Spray Cottage… and you will soon see why Whitstable has become such a favourite with city dwellers looking to get away from it all. Just as impressive as the views, the ground-floor lounge has a pair of comfy sofas, TV, DVD and a wood-burning stove in the fireplace, perfect for a cosy night in.
A dining table seats six, sidling up to a sleek kitchen with an oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. A breakfast bar is just the place to enjoy your morning coffee as daylight streams in through the skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows. You could wander out to the courtyard garden too.
Upstairs, you will find a bathroom with bath and walk-in shower, a twin bedroom and the master with king-size bed, en suite and a lengthy window seat looking out across the beach.
There’s still more to come, as those occupying the attic bedroom will find two single beds and another en suite at the top of the house. Elegantly appointed throughout, this house scores points for its contemporary style.
Now famed for its thriving food scene, everything you will want to discover in Whitstable is just a short walk from Spray Cottage. The town is known for its oysters, and while there is no shortage of seafood restaurants to try them at, you will also find Italian, Spanish, Indian and countless other eateries about town. For something award-winning, The Sportsman at Seasalter lies within four miles of Whitstable. For something simple, there are many independent coffee shops and cafés less than 10 minutes’ walk from your front door.
Just seven miles north of Canterbury, Whitstable also lets you combine city and coast with ease. As well as the Cathedral, St Augustine’s Abbey and punting on the river, Canterbury has perhaps the best shopping in East Kent, and its city centre Marlowe Theatre brings some well-known names to the area.
There’s entertainment back in Whitstable too, whether at the Playhouse, the arts centre or in the form of live music at many of the town’s pubs. With all this going on, maybe it’s time you headed for the coast and the inspiring Spray Cottage.
Please note: minimum stay for this property is: 2 nights low season & 7 nights high season

Have you stayed here?
Leave a reviewJust returned from a fantastic stay at Spray Cottage. Deceptively spacious, the downstairs open plan layout was perfect with big comfy sofas, fab kitchen with everything you could need (& a dishwasher!) and bifolds near the dining table, out to the sunny courtyard. Easy walking distance of the town & harbour, would recommend a visit to the castle & gardens, Royal Naval Reserve pub & JoJos in Tankerton... & The Neptune, of course! All four of us said we would stay there again, thank you!
