The Details

This incredible Grade II listed home is over 300 years old and is known locally as ‘the secret gem of Wensleydale”. Sleeping up to 17 guests, with spacious social living areas, sprawling lawns and an indoor swimming pool, this marvellous retreat is perfect for your next big group getaway. This amazing home was built in the Queen Anne style, and sets the scene for a truly special stay.

When you arrive, you’ll be blown away by the striking exterior of this grand home. And once you step inside, the comfy and casual interiors (despite the grandness of this big house) encourage you to relax and unwind. Relax in the sitting room beside a real fire, whilst gazing out the window at the surrounding scenery.

When tummies rumble, whip up a delicious feast in the practical country house kitchen, which is complete with an aga, electric oven, dishwasher, two sinks and a cooking preparation table. Then, when dinner’s ready, dine in the dining room, with its high ceilings and grand table that perfectly seats your entire group. This wonderful dining hall sets the scene for epic celebratory dinners that stretch long into the night.

When it comes to filling your days, you can while away the morning with a dip in the pool or challenge a loved one to a game on your own private tennis court or croquet lawn. You can then grab a drink and relax in one of the outdoor seating areas, that offer a lovely spot for an afternoon tipple as you breathe in that fresh Yorkshire air. You will also have access to your own private yoga studio, which is situated in a beautiful and calm room that has space for up to 14 mats for practice.

When eyes grow weary, there are eight bedrooms to choose from offering a combination of king size and twin rooms. Five rooms have parkland views and all are peacefully decorated. There are stair gates on some corridors to ensure parents get a good night’s sleep. There is also a self-catering ensuite cottage is available with a zip-link bed for two further guests.

The hall’s location in the lower Yorkshire Dales puts you within easy reach of stunning cycling and walking routes, rich history and activities for all ages. Discover the castles of Bolton, Middleham and Richmond, wander through the historic ruins of Fountains Abbey, or explore the charming shops and markets of towns like Leyburn, Hawes, Masham, Thirsk and Northallerton. You’re also within a comfortable drive of the magnificent cathedral cities of York and Durham - and if the coast calls, seaside favourites like Whitby, Saltburn and Tynemouth are just a scenic journey away.
