Mawgies is a characterful hidden cabin in the VIP area of Macdonald's Farm Glamping site. It comes with its own private garden, with a hot tub and firepit, and would be perfect for a couple seeking respite beneath the blue Cornish skies.
When you arrive you might like to take it easy in the garden and make yourself comfortable on the rattan cushioned furniture with a cold drink in the sun. You'll be delighted by how private and secluded this pretty cabin is.
Inside is bright, airy and entirely open plan. There's a cosy seating area where you can snuggle up in the evening by the wood burner and watch a movie with popcorn. The mini kitchen is neat and kitted out with everything you'll need to whip up a meal on those days when you don't fancy a BBQ or a meal at the on-site restaurant. There's a perfect little table for two where you can eat or play a game of cards before bed.
The bed is a deluxe king size made up for you with fluffy pillows and a warm duvet where you can sleep with only the sound of nature for company. In the morning you'll be delighted by your private ensuite with a toilet and shower meaning you don't have to march to the shared facilities to use the loo first thing. The private shower is perfect for that morning blast, but if you want to wash away the sand after a day you're also welcome to use the brand new shared showers on site.
Make some coffee and head out into your private garden to enjoy the morning sun and make some plans for the day. For breakfast you can pop some sausages on the BBQ, or if you prefer to leave the work to someone else then head over to the crowning glory of Macdonald's, Fire & Stone, which is their new Smokehouse and Pizza Shed! This restaurant is putting Porthcothan on the foodie map and offers breakfast on its lovely terrace with fabulous views. You can also take lunch or dinner here and cosy up on the veranda at bench tables beneath the festoon lighting. You'll be delighted to know there's a bar too! Then, why not retire back to your cabin and while away the evening relaxing in your very own private hot tub whilst taking in the sunset.
It wouldn't be a Cornish holiday without the sea, and just a short 10-minute walk down the hill you'll find Porthcothan Beach, a stunning north west facing cove backed by grassy dunes where you can swim, bodyboard or enjoy an ice cream from the cafe. If you're visiting with a baby and have lots to carry there's a bus down the hill which only takes five minutes. The beach is also dog-friendly all year and is usually crowd-free, though it has gained some fame since being featured in the BBC series Poldark!
For a fancy night out you might like to book a table at The Pig which is only three miles away and offers wonderful locally sourced or home grown meals in a very pretty setting. They also have a spa which takes bookings for organic treatments.
Spend the day exploring the coastal path and the beaches before heading back to your lovely cabin and freshening up for an evening of wonderful food followed by drinks around the fire pit beneath the starry skies.
