Hidden away in the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Jack’s Barn is perfect for an escape to the countryside with friends and family.

This beautifully converted barn was once home to Jack and several other heavy horses at Lilycombe Farm. It’s now spacious and welcoming accommodation for up to 10 guests that feels like a real home from home. Enjoy long walks in the Somerset countryside or relaxed days exploring Wells and Bath before tucking into a meal together and putting your feet up in front of the woodburner. You might prefer a day at the farm with the indoor swimming pool, cinema room and spa therapy room all at your disposal.

The barn is great for entertaining with large living spaces and room for up to 22 guests around the dining table. The spacious sitting room has comfy sofas gathered around a woodburner, creating a cosy atmosphere in the evenings, ideal for getting stuck into a board game or two. There are also French doors that lead out onto the terrace and the garden with outdoor dining furniture so you can eat outdoors in the sunshine, enjoying the views all the way to Bath. The sitting room leads straight through to the kitchen and dining space which you’ll find fully equipped for large groups with extra fridge space and two dishwashers.

You’ll find two of the bedrooms on the ground floor, each with its own ensuite wetroom. These rooms can be made up with super-king size beds or two large singles, offering plenty of flexibility for groups. Upstairs, there are three more rooms, all beautifully furnished in relaxing, neutral colours and can also be made up as super-kings or twins. One of these rooms has an ensuite and the other two share a family bathroom.

You can also book private sessions in the farm's 15-metre indoor heated swimming pool. Splash around in the water or relax with a book by the poolside or in the enclosed garden outside. For that extra bit of relaxation, book yourself in for treatments from aromatherapy and massages to hypnotherapy and wellness day retreats. There’s also a cinema with a big-screen projector which is great for a bit of rainy day entertainment.

You’ll find yourselves spoilt for choice with things to do and explore with lovely walks straight from the front door and beautiful towns and cities a short drive away. Lilycombe has a six-acre bluebell wood where you might catch a glimpse of deer and rabbits, or you can head further afield into the hills along the West Mendip Way.

There are four pubs in the area which make great pit stops on long walks and Wells is also nearby with its stunning cathedral and cosy coffee shops. Venture a little further and you’ll find Glastonbury with iconic views from the Tor in one direction and the bustling cities of Bath and Bristol in the other.
