Nestled amongst rolling farmland and woodland in rural Devon, the Holly Water Holidays Shepherd’s Huts are perfect for a romantic retreat. Escape the busy everyday for a holiday surrounded by nature which you can enjoy from your own wood-fired hot tub. These eco-friendly huts are run on a completely ‘off the grid’ system, powered by solar and propane gas. The farm also has its own water supply and supplies the huts via a solar pump.
There are two huts, situated in one of the farm’s sheep fields and named after the glorious oak trees and the wonderful bluebells that transform the landscape every year. ‘Oak’ and ‘Bluebell’ are both built for two guests and kitted out with everything you might need for a relaxing countryside escape. Each beautifully crafted shepherd’s hut has its own kitchen, en-suite shower room and a hand-built king-size bed. Upon arrival, you’ll find a welcome basket with everything you need to make a cosy cup of tea and some eggs, fresh from the farm. Luxurious and eco-friendly bathroom products are provided by UK-based Out of Eden.
You’ll be cosy whatever the weather as the huts are fully heated and there are wood-burning stoves for chillier evenings. You might prefer to cook outside, enjoying a barbecue over the fire pit on a sunny afternoon. Or there are the beautiful wood-fired hot tubs to relax in with a glass of something as you watch the sun go down over the fields. Without WiFi and just the sheep for neighbours, the shepherd’s huts are the perfect place to switch off and reconnect with nature and each other.
Located in the heart of Devon, the shepherd’s huts make the ideal base for exploring the county, with the beaches and moors all easily accessible. Go for spectacular windswept walks on Dartmoor and Exmoor, or visit the sandy beaches on the North and South coasts. Stop off at one of the many National Trust properties such as Arlington Court house and gardens or Castle Drogo. The city of Exeter makes for an exciting day trip with lots to discover, from the beautiful cathedral to medieval underground passages.
