Cosy shepherd’s hut with a wood-fired hot tub and spectacular views on a farm in North Devon, a romantic rural escape.
Time sensitive - don't hang around...
Tucked away on a secluded spot on Luckett Farm in Devon, Hawkings Hideaway is a cosy and eco-friendly shepherd’s hut. Wander down a private woodland path from the pretty farmhouse and you’ll find the hut set in a picturesque scene of rolling hills, trees and farm animals. Enjoy long countryside walks followed by a dip in your wood-fired hot tub as you watch the sunset. This is a wonderful rural escape for couples looking to slow down the pace and reconnect with nature.
Wake up in the mornings in your luxurious double with a comfortable mattress to the sound of birdsong and take your morning coffee out to the deck where you might be lucky enough to spot one of the local Red Deer. There’s a kitchenette with all the basics to get you started including an electric hob, toaster, and an honesty bar stocked with wine and beer. It also offers wonderful views over ‘deer valley’ from the window over the sink. There’s a small dining area next to a wood-burning stove, perfect for cosy evenings in. You’ll find the bathroom facilities in two separate huts where there’s a toilet and a shower.
Outside, on the 65-foot decking area, you’ll find the wood-fired hot tub which is perfectly positioned to enjoy the stunning views. Sit back on one of the deck chairs while dinner cooks over the fire pit and when the sun has set, snuggle up under some blankets, toast some marshmallows and perhaps enjoy a hot chocolate before bed.
From this secluded spot, there are many walking routes and trails to choose from, including a walk to the local pub, the Michelin star rated ‘The Masons Arms’. Whether you’re looking for a pretty 20-minute ramble in the local area or want to tackle part of the 102 mile Two Moors Way which crosses Dartmoor and Exmoor, there are walks to suit everyone. Head out to Exmoor and see if you can spot any of the iconic Red Deer or one of the herds of Exmoor Ponies that roam freely on the moor. The dramatic coastline of North Devon is also close by with rocky coves and sandy beaches to explore. Saunton Sands and Putsborough are well worth visiting, especially if you’re bringing the dog along too.

My partner and I stayed at Hawkings Hideaway for 3 nights with our dog. Both Sarah and David are so welcoming and helpful. The shepherds hut is beautifully decorated and has everything you need including towel robes, flip flops and dog bed/ towel/ treats (there is also complementary ciders). The setting for the hut is stunning, it’s quiet and scenic. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed cooking on the fire pit and spent our evenings in the wood fired hot tub. Overall, our stay was incredible - we will definitely be returning. I can’t recommend Hawkings Hideaway enough.

HH is amazing, the attention to detail makes you feel very special. there are good walks nearby and a great Pub in the village (Masons Arms) on arrival the wood fired stove was burning bright and the hot tub was steaming, the lights were on then suddenly this little shepherds hut opened its arms and said welcome. Thank you Sarah & David.

Amazing! Loved every moment of our stay at the Hawking's hideaway. A unique accomodation with everything you could possibly need. A very comfortable bed. Simple but effective kitchen and a shower and loo with a view! Just perfect. The hot tub is great and was good fun tending the fire to heat it up! The decking is a perfect spot to relax, especially in the evening with the fire going. The owners were very helpful and made sure our stay was nothing less than perfect. Lovely little touches; bath robes, flip flops, blankets etc and a cake waiting for us on arrival :) Secluded destination but not too far from the local village, pubs/restaurant and beaches. An amazing getaway! Shame we only went for a weekend. Would love to return one day for a longer stay!

All we can say is WOW.. exceeded all our expectations. Every little detail has been thought out so perfectly, from the robes and flip flops to the coffee machine and radio. All the little extras really do make your stay. As for the location of the hut its so secluded and has the most stunning view, we cant wait to return 2 nights was not enough!
