You should know

Up to 2 dogs are welcome at an additional charge of £25 per dog but please keep dogs off the bed and furniture.
Guests are asked to ensure their dogs are up to date with flea treatments and to bring their own dog beds or blankets.
Please note that the hut is surrounded by actively farmed land, with horses and ponies grazing in the adjacent field.
The hut is accessed via a farm track, so if you're bringing a sports car, take it easy over the bumps!
Once at the entrance gate, you can drive right up to the hut, making unpacking a breeze.

Tucked away in a secluded corner of a sprawling 400-acre farming estate, the Chough Shepherd Hut offers the perfect blend of compact luxury and rustic charm for two guests. With incredible views over the surrounding countryside and a fabulous hot tub for indulgent soaks beneath the stars, Chough Shepherd’s Hut might just be your perfect romantic retreat.

The hut’s delightful private deck features outdoor dining furniture, relaxing chairs and the aforementioned wood-fired hot tub. This provides you with a lovely spot to sit and unwind with a drink in hand, or enjoy a meal alfresco whilst taking in the views. There’s also a BBQ here and a firepit, so you can grill up some delicious local produce before staying toasty and warm in front of the flames as the sun begins to set.

Stepping into the shepherd’s hut, you’ll find a cosy interior with a super-comfy bed that sits next to a giant window that perfectly frames the incredible view. At night enjoy a restful sleep, then wake and enjoy your first coffee of the day in bed whilst gazing out over the fields that stretch out to the horizon.

Whilst you will want to spend most of your time outside in the fresh Cornish air, if the rain does come you can enjoy a movie night in bed on the smart TV and cook up some food in the quaint kitchenette, which comes compete with a cooker and a hob, as well as a fridge.

You also have a spacious shower room complete with a large shower, hand sink, towel rail and WC. Additional storage options include a wardrobe, chest of drawers and ample under-bed storage. There’s also a small storage shed outside, which is ideal for hanging wet coats, wellies, wetsuits and other outdoor gear.

It’s also worth noting that the hut is fully insulated and is powered by solar panels. It also has super-fast WiFi and excellent 4G signal so you can stay connected during your stay.

The immediate area around the Shepherd's Hut is fully enclosed with a four-foot picket fence, providing a secure space for dogs.

When it comes to venturing you, you can take a leisurely 20-30 minute walk to Northcott Mouth Beach along a private farm lane. Here you’ll find a delightful pop-up café with live music in the summer months. From here, you can head south to Crooklets and Summerleaze Beaches in Bude, with the famous Bude Sea Pool in between, or north to Sandymouth Beach, all offering fantastic beach cafes.
