Set above a woodland trail on a one hundred and fifty acre family run farm in the heart of Devon, Exe Valley Glamping is a collection of three canvas safari lodges, each accommodating six people between three bedrooms. Under five minutes on foot from Bickleigh Mill, Exe Valley is a magical glamping location for couples, families and friends looking to enjoy the rustic beauty of England’s Westcountry without compromising on comfort.
With a unique design which maximises light, tranquillity, and cosiness, each of the lodges comes with its own private bathroom, woodburning stove, and full kitchen with water sources from a local spring. The sleeping arrangements are flexible to accommodate multiple combinations, with each lodge containing a master bedroom with king sized bed, a twin room in which the two singles can be pushed together, and a snug ceiling-height cabin bedroom with its own hatched doors. You also have access to four safari tents.
Guests are encouraged to make use of the high-spec private kitchens, or cook out in the open air over the firepits or barbecue grills. Exe Valley Glamping was founded by a father and son team who have embedded eco-friendly practices and a low impact philosophy into the way the glampsite is run. Exe Valley takes care to use minimal energy, and all power is generated by renewable wood-burning and solar panels. Rather than using the mains supply, water comes from a local well and is run through a UV filter. As well as working towards eliminating all single use plastics, the owners take pains to ensure that all produce and services used at the site originate within a ten mile radius.
Devon's stunning topography, light, and flora attracts outdoors enthusiasts from all over the country. Whether you like to hike, surf, paddle-board, kayak, cycle or swim, you’re bound to love your stay at Exe Valley. For those looking for a less physical retreat, the nearby village of Bickleigh abounds in charm, from its many thatched cottages to its famous medieval bridge. When it comes to eating and drinking, The Fisherman’s Cot is a must, while those looking to venture further afield will love taking the water taxi to The River Exe Café. Stop by The Exploding Bakery in Exeter, just over ten miles away, or head to The Beer Engine for a cold pint after a long day’s exploring.
