As you approach Hole Mill you’ll be amazed by its truly picturesque exterior. This marvellous old stone building has a history that spans over 350 years and sits in an idyllic spot at the base of a rolling hill, with scenic gardens and a serene swimming pond.
A remarkable stay, Hole Mill offers groups of up to nine guests a fantastic base from which to explore all that Devon has to offer. The inside of the home is just as striking as the outside, with wonderful exposed stonework walls, rustic wooden beams and a fabulous wood-burning fireplace. It offers you and your loved ones bucketloads of historic charm, whilst the modern amenities and appliances ensure your stay is as comfortable as can be.
Gather in the cosy lounge with its huge sofa and comfy armchairs and spend the evening catching up as the flames crackle in the log burner. Or why not enjoy lengthy meals that stretch into the night at the dining table whilst gazing out across the garden? The dining table sits under a glass roof, which provides a scenic setting for delicious feasts. When it comes to meal prep, the newly fitted kitchen, designed for 2024, is a chef’s dream, and also has a grand kitchen island with bar stools so you can get comfy with a glass of wine and keep your loved one company as they cook up a storm.
For those seeking entertainment, the modern extension includes a large TV and a table tennis setup making it a great place to hang out for the afternoon.
Stepping outside, you’ll be captivated by your surroundings. The mill sits in two acres of private land and has a unique organic swimming pond, ideal for refreshing dips and complete relaxation. With depths reaching three metres and a charming jetty for diving, this pond is a standout feature of the property. The lush gardens also include a babbling stream and picturesque walking trails leading directly to Branscombe Beach, just a mile away.
When night falls, you can choose between one of four delightful bedrooms. The master suite occupies the entire upper level of one side of the house, featuring stone walls and an open-plan ensuite with a luxurious freestanding oval bath. With Douglas fir wood floors throughout and vaulted ceilings enhanced by Velux windows, the ambiance is warm and inviting. There is another double bedroom, a king size bedroom and a twin room, ensuring you and your loved ones have plenty of flexibility! Each of the four bedrooms offers high-quality beds and ample space, ensuring everyone has a restful night’s sleep.
Branscombe offers a delightful array of activities for all types of visitors. Stroll along the picturesque Branscombe Beach, known for its stunning cliffs and rock pools. Explore the scenic South West Coast Path, perfect for hiking enthusiasts. Visit the historic Branscombe Old Bakery for a taste of traditional Devonshire cream teas. For a family-friendly outing, head to the nearby Donkey Sanctuary, where you can meet and interact with these lovable animals. Don’t miss the charming pubs and local shops in the village!
