Doverow Cottage is a delightful period retreat tucked on the edge of Stonehouse, offering the perfect base to explore the rolling hills of the Cotswolds. Whether you're planning a day at Cheltenham Racecourse, embarking on scenic countryside walks or indulging in fabulous local dining, this cosy hideaway makes every moment special.
Built in 1850, this two-bedroom cottage beautifully blends its historic quirks with modern comforts. The steep, narrow stairs are a characterful nod to its heritage, but they may make it unsuitable for guests with mobility concerns.
The heart of the home is the snug living and dining space, where a log burner takes centre stage, ready to warm chilly evenings after a day out exploring the area. Sink into the inviting sofas, enjoy a board game marathon or simply unwind with a glass of wine as the fire crackles.
The fully equipped kitchen is a chef’s dream, with everything you need for rustling up hearty breakfasts or elegant dinners. With a built-in dishwasher, washing machine, oven and hob, you can cook with ease and convenience. Then when dinner’s ready dine on the quaint table for four whilst being warmed by the wood-burner.
Take your first coffee of the day in the quaint enclosed front courtyard, perfect for soaking up morning sunshine. Or head to the back where a paved garden offers a tranquil spot for alfresco dining or a quiet evening drink under the stars.
Upstairs, two charming bedrooms provide a restful retreat for up to four guests. The main bedroom exudes cosy elegance with its comfy double bed and soft, welcoming decor. For something a little more unique, the attic bedroom - complete with an exposed red brick wall and twin single beds - feels like a hidden gem, full of rustic character. The ground-floor bathroom is thoughtfully designed and equipped with modern fittings, ensuring a refreshing start to your day or a relaxing end after exploring the Cotswolds.
The Cotswolds around Stonehouse offer a wealth of activities. Wander the idyllic Stroudwater Canal, explore scenic trails like Doverow Hill or visit charming market towns like Stroud, famous for its vibrant farmers' market.
History buffs will love Woodchester Mansion, while nature enthusiasts can roam Haresfield Beacon for stunning views. Enjoy local pubs, artisan shops and a short drive to Westonbirt Arboretum or the bustling Cheltenham Racecourse for unforgettable experiences.
