Pretty two-bedroom cottage on a private estate in South Devon with access to two swimming pools, perfect for a family trip.
Hidden away on the Gitcombe Estate in a private valley in South Devon, the Coach House is a beautiful two-bedroom cottage with plenty of countryside charm. With a cosy interior, featuring a wood burner and an Aga, and French doors leading out onto the pretty patio area, this is a great option for a family any time of year. Guests also have access to the Estate facilities including indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a tennis court.
The open plan living space is bright and airy during the day, thanks to two sets of French doors, and cosy as the evening draws in, with comfy sofas gathered around a wood-burning stove. There are beautiful original features, such as the inglenook fireplace and the slate flagstone flooring which leads through to the dining area and the kitchen. The Aga takes pride of place here and there’s also an island with a ceramic hob and oven. Step through the French doors to the private patio area to the front of the cottage, complete with garden furniture and an available BBQ.
At the end of a long day exploring the estate or after a day at the beach, you’ll find the perfect place to relax in one of the spacious bedrooms. The master bedroom, tastefully decorated in a traditional style with a modern twist, features a luxurious super king bed, built-in wardrobes and has room for a cot. The second bedroom has twin beds, and also has room for a cot and features a walk-in wardrobe. The bathroom is also on the first floor and you step down into the large inset bath which also has a shower.
As part of the Gitcombe Estate, guests at the Coach House have access to indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a hot tub, sauna, tennis court and indoor and outdoor play areas for the little ones. The hot tub is sunk into the decking next to the indoor pool and offers stunning views of Dartmoor National Park by day and a wonderful opportunity to stargaze in the evenings. Overall, there are 14 acres of grounds to explore with lots of opportunities to spot some of the local wildlife or find the perfect spot for a picnic. There is access to a number of footpaths which will take you into the surrounding countryside with some pubs along the way. There’s also plenty to do in the surrounding area, with beaches like Salcombe and Blackpool Sands nearby and historic sites like Buckfast Abbey and Dartmouth Castle to explore.
