In the heart of the Westcountry, benefitting from truly remarkable views of the rolling hillsides, Candlestick Cottage is a picture-perfect self-catering holiday home with abundant charm and everything you need to spend an indulgent and restorative period in the country. With whitewashed exterior walls, gleaming hardwood floors and endless quirky touches in the design and interior décor, Candlestick Cottage is one of those spaces which just feels like a holiday.
Inside, a well-appointed kitchen marries contemporary, confident lines with a more classical, timeless aesthetic. With slate-look worktops, timber floors, and tasteful, stylish tiling, the kitchen opens directly onto the patio outside via a glass door. This means that you can gaze out over the hills of Dorset as you prepare a meal using delicious local ingredients.
Next-door, a spacious living room benefits from light all day, pouring in through the windows to create an airy space. This is the ultimate room to unwind in after a long day exploring some of Dorset’s well-kept secret spots, either on the coast or the country. Up a carpeted staircase which sweeps up behind the book case, two king-sized bedrooms await, both made up Egyptian cotton just like the fluffy white towels. While both of the bedrooms benefit from stunning views, the standout feature is certainly the roll-top bath in the master bedroom, boxed in with timber trim, making it the perfect place to relax for a post-hike soak with a book.
Evenings at Candlestick Cottage are a real treat, as the South facing garden and patio benefit from the famous Westcountry light long into the evening. A firepit is provided to ensure a magical end to each day, while a nearby barbecue also means that you can cook a delicious alfresco meal for the friends, family, or other couple that you’re sharing this beautiful home with. Guests also have access to a luxurious private hot tub.
During your stay you will also have access to The Barn, which is a shared space that houses a gym, a sauna with a cold plunge and a yoga space. The barn also features a fantastic games room should you wish to challenge a loved one to a game or two.
While still undiscovered by the majority of tourists, Dorset and its staggeringly lovely Jurassic Coast remain popular spots for a small number of loyal devotees, drawn back year and again by the undulating coastline, dramatic topography, and easy-going pace of life. Try your hand at archery, enjoy a round of gold, or take a ride on a motorboat. And make sure you visit the quaint and picturesque town of Lyme Regis. Fishing enthusiasts will be delighted to visit the nearby Hewish, while the courses, meals and events of the River Cottage can be reached in twenty minutes. Without venturing further afield, there is excellent cheer, phenomenal grub and great local beers at the local pub, within easy walking distance.

Leave a reviewWow! What a place! We had a dreamy 2 nights staying at the candlestick cottage. It is a beautiful, spacious yet cosy, fully equipped to a very high spec cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed the outside space especially the log fired hot tub! The Barn facilities are amazing too! Felt like luxury and home all in one! Have told all our friends about it and already thinking of when we can book again! Just perfect!
