Bilton Retreats features two bespoke cabins in the Northumberland countryside, offering couples a romantic break by the sea. Spend your morning walking along Alnmouth’s beautiful sandy beach before enjoying a delicious lunch in one of the welcoming local pubs. And when you’re finished in the pub, retire back to your rustic cabin and enjoy a luxurious soak in your private hot tub, whilst taking in the view.
Both cabins are located on a working farm that is two miles from Alnmouth. The unspoilt location allows you to rest and unwind in a tranquil setting, waking up to special sunrises and enjoying peaceful nights beneath incredible dark skies. Both cabins come with star gazing skylights and gorgeous country views, which you can enjoy from bed with your morning cup of tea.
The first of the two cabins is Bilton Lookout. This amazing space is made from solid reclaimed oak with hand-forged wheels and sheep’s wool insulation. Set over two storeys, the cabin has a cosy living space upstairs, which makes use of Egyptian cotton bedding, and an open plan living space downstairs. In the mornings open the remote control blind to let in the lovely views without leaving the comfort of your bed.
Light the log burner and get cosy in the two armchairs whilst taking in the view. Or, in summer, pop out onto your private deck and sit in the hanging chair whilst gazing out at the countryside. Guests also have a luxury private hot tub and a fire pit, should they wish to toast marshmallows under the stars.
The second cabin, Bilton Bothy, is a unique L-shaped space built from the same eco friendly materials as the Lookout. Enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep in the driftwood feature bed before waking up and taking your morning coffee out onto the deck. When the weather cools, cuddle up in front of the wood burner on the two-person sofa that offers a nice vantage point to take in the lovely views.
Bilton Bothy also has a private hot tub and a fire pit, so you and your loved one can spend evenings warming your toes in front of the fire or relaxing with a glass of bubbles in the hot water.
Guests staying at both cabins will be able to make use of fluffy towels, robes and slippers for an added touch of luxury. Both cabins also come with nicely equipped kitchen spaces and quaint dining tables that are ideal for romantic meals for two.
When it comes to filling your days you’re nicely placed to enjoy this marvellous part of the UK. The pretty beach of Alnmouth is close by, however, there is plenty more of the gorgeous Northumberland coast just waiting to be explored. Guests will want to visit Bamburgh, Craster, Alnwick and Warkworth. Local attractions include Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Gardens and the Farne Islands, whilst the city of Newcastle, The Roman Wall and Edinburgh all make excellent options for day trips.

Leave a reviewMy husband and I booked a few nights in the retreat, it was our first weekend away without the children so wanted something a little extra special... This did not disappoint! From the moment you walk into the door, you are hit with the most beautiful wooden smell and a feeling of pure coziness and comfort. The photos do not do it justice, especially the view of the sea. Everything in the retreat is set up with comfort and ease in mind. Simple and elegantly designed but practical and well stocked! The retreat is immaculately clean and I can not wait to return and be back in the hot tub with a glass of wine and no crying babies :) Thank you for such a wonderful stay.
