With an unassuming facade that belies its grandeur, this four-story retreat promises surprise and delight at every turn.
As you enter through the vibrant green door from Kirkgate Hill, you’ll instantly feel the warmth of Tawny Nook. Step into the snug, where a stylish Bo-Concept corner sofa beckons you to unwind. This cosy space boasts a dual aspect, inviting light from both the north and south, while a smart TV and games keep the atmosphere lively. And it’s here that you’ll catch your first glimpse of the breathtaking views that make this home truly special.
The heart of Tawny Nook is the kitchen and dining area, designed for whipping up feasts and enjoying social dinners together as a group. Featuring a modern table and benches, this space seamlessly connects to the ground-floor terrace through bi-fold glass doors, creating an effortless indoor-outdoor experience. The fully-equipped kitchen, complete with Bosch appliances and a Nespresso machine, caters to all your culinary needs.
Step outside to the ground-floor terrace, where glass balustrades provide a stunning panoramic view of the valley. Relax on comfortable loungers and enjoy the convenience of an electric awning for those sunny days. You may also want to socialise in the first-floor sitting room, with French doors leading to yet another balcony. This tranquil space offers a serene view of the valley and is perfect for cosy evenings thanks to the wood-burning fireplace that keeps you toasty and warm as you enjoy board games or listening to your favourite vinyl.
When night falls, there are two bedrooms in Tawny Nook, with a double bedroom on the first floor and the master king bedroom awaiting at the top of the home. This room features a luxurious southern skyline view, Smart TV and a relaxing reading nook. The family bathroom, adorned with contemporary fixtures and warm LED lighting, provides the perfect finishing touch for your stay.
However, guests staying at Tawny Nook also have the opportunity to book the additional Grotti King Suite (which can also be booked separately for couples), which is situated in the basement. Bathed in sunlight, this basement bedroom features glass bi-folds that open to a private balcony overlooking the river, perfect for sunrise coffee or sunset cocktails.
The Grotto also features a record player with a selection of vinyl for you to choose from, as well as a living room space, with a cosy sofa, a wood-burning fireplace, a Smart TV and a Sonos Sound System. The Grotto is a self-contained space, with its own kitchenette and a walk-in shower room, as well as a separate independent external entrance that leads onto the street.
If you wish to venture out and explore, Knaresborough offers a wealth of activities. Explore the historic Knaresborough Castle and its stunning views over the River Nidd. Stroll along the scenic riverside paths or take a boat trip for a unique perspective. Don’t miss the picturesque Mother Shipton’s Cave and the stunning views from the viaduct. Enjoy local shops and cafés in the vibrant town centre, or indulge in a relaxing day at the nearby Nidd Gorge Nature Reserve, perfect for walking and wildlife spotting.
You're also just a stone’s throw from the Knaresborough Train Station which links to York and the high speed trains both north and south, meaning it's easy to access from Edinburgh or London!
