These fantastic shepherds huts have been carefully hand built by the owners and a team of master craftsmen. Every aspect of these huts has been designed to ensure that guests are offered a supremely comfy place to stay, whilst still maintaining the charming, traditional feel of a rural shepherds hut. There are five huts on site, all of which sleep two guests in plenty of comfort, and offer you a peaceful slice of North Yorkshire countryside. Three of the huts (Herdwick, Cotswold and from October 2023 onward, Jacob) even come with their own private hot tub for added luxury!
Each hut features a fully equipped, fitted kitchen that has all you need to cook some delicious dinners. The kitchenettes feature two induction hobs, a microwave/oven, a fridge with a small freezer, a toaster, a kettle, and a country style sink. You're also provided with all of the cutlery, pots and pans you could need. You can enjoy your meals outside in the summer sun, or up at the breakfast bar which has two handy stools.
Inside, each hut makes use of modern design flourishes such as whitewashed walls, stylish blinds, and works of art. You also have a quaint couch that sits next to a wood burning stove, meaning you can stay comfy and cosy all year round - there's also underfloor heating so you can stay nice and warm without having to light up the fire.
Behind the sofa sits the super-comfy king size bed, which has Egyptian cotton linen, a duvet and pillows. There’s even a smart TV on a swivel mount so you can view it from all around the hut - this makes movie nights in a joy! Springwood Shepherd Huts offer all the quirks of a glamping experience, with the added luxury of a hotel. This is particularly the case when it comes to your bathroom. There are no composting loos and cold showers here! Your bathroom consists of a shower cubicle and a mains shower, sink, toilet, heated towel rail, amazingly soft towels and some lovely complementary toiletries. Storage hasn’t been forgotten either, with storage space for hanging your clothes, and an iron and ironing board included.
When you step outside you're presented with your own peaceful spot to relax in the summer sunshine. Gaze out onto fields, where Hebridean sheep and alpacas graze, whilst enjoying the peace and quiet of your surroundings. You can light up the fire pit which can keep you toasty in the evenings and can also be used as a BBQ to prepare some meals al fresco. And for guests staying in Herdwick and Cotswold, you can relax and unwind in the luxury and comfort of your own private hot tub!
Whilst you may wish to while away your days relaxing around the hut, those who want to venture out have lots to see and do in the area. The amazing, historic city of York is just a short drive away. The city is full of amazing restaurants, quaint cafes, cracking pubs, and boutique shops. There are also plenty of historic sites to explore like York Castle Museum, York Minster, and Cliffords Tower. Lovers of country walks will want to try Skipwith Common or Wheldrake Woods, both of which are nearby, and well worth a visit.

Sometimes a second visit to a destination can feel like you have done it all before and perhaps not as good measured up to the first time. Well… that’s definitely not the case here, in fact we are booking a third visit in November/ December for the excellent York Christmas market. If you love staying 5 star where you can hear the room next door, the lift going up and down, people walking the corridors or hurrying up to get out before the maid service walks in on you then Springwood is not for you! If you like extremely high quality spotless accommodation, absolute peace and quiet, no noise from neighbours and excessive attention to detail by the host, then book this little gem without hesitation. Oh just a tip!, if you are looking for something special for a loved one, book all the extras that are available, the robes, Prosecco, firewood package, petals and towel folding really make the stay and are exceptionally good value. We have stayed with the hot tub included and once without, either way the stay was equally as good. A hot tub on your own though, under a starlit sky, Prosecco and peace and quiet! You decide. The hosts at this property completely leave you to your stay but went well above and beyond for us. We are really grateful for a fantastic stay.

A perfect night away, with a warm hot tub and cosy hut inside for the perfect night away! Highly recommend We recently stayed the night at Springwood Shepherd Huts, for a surprise getaway. It really didn’t disappoint, on arrival the hot tub was super warm ready for us to hop on in. Inside was toasty and warm, with everything we could possibly need, we had the best nights sleep. We booked to feed the alpacas which was a great experience and highly recommend. Highlight was the hot tub we loved that you could get in whenever you wanted and was always so warm and fresh! Highly recommend a visit, one of the best glamping sites we have stayed at. We wished we stayed for longer and will be booking again soon

Really great place to stay, clean & tidy got hot tub and fire pit, and super friendly hosts. Got to meet and feed lovely rescue alpacas would recommend adding this to your stay. Great location if you're looking to explore York and other surrounding areas like Brimham Rocks and Fountains Abbey.

We stayed in the Herdwick hut and WOW, incredible place! Absolute credit to the owners, huts are very clean, luxurious and cosy. No chance of feeling cold, central heating and log burner, everything you could need has been thought of, hot tub makes is extra luxurious. Very comfortable bed, great nights sleep. We chose to feed the alpacas which was a brilliant experience, Eden was very friendly and knowledgeable about the alpacas. Short walk to some local pubs. Was everything we hoped and more. Can’t wait to visit again!! Will absolutely be recommending to friends and family, thanks again!!

What an amazing place! I surprised my partner and it didn’t disappoint. We saw the chickens, alpacas, horse and sheep it was great waking up watching them. We booked a hut with a hot tub and it was just perfect, we cannot fault the place we would highly recommend and will 100% be returning!

Me and my partner have just returned from a 2 night stay at springwood shepherd huts. Firstly, the service was amazing. After having a small issue with making the booking (through my own mistake) Eden was very helpful, kept me informed and due to the service received, I had high hopes for our stay - we wasn't disappointed. Driving on to the site, we were delighted with the set up. 5 beautiful huts, each very private, very clean and lovely views of the farm. Our hut was just amazing inside, very clean, good layout, everything to a very high standard. Outside we had a fire pit, seating and a table for 2 as well as a hot tub which was ready as soon as we arrived. The purpose of our trip was to relax and have a but of peace and we did exactly that. Our only regret is that we didn't book for 3 nights. We will definitely be back. Thank you for having us!

What a fantastic please, the Huts are outstanding, everything provided you could ask for, first time staying in a Shepherd's Hut and it was fantastic, you say they are luxury and they are. Sitting in the Hot tub watching the stars. Perfect and the extra touches of the free eggs and watching the animals - we will definitely be returning.
